Chapter Four|The Blame Game Pt.2

I woke up in a strange room I had never been in. The walls lined with books on weapons and war. Cal sat in a chair in the corner of the room. I looked over at him, his head was in his hands.

        "Whats wrong." I said my voice hoarse, it had hurt to speak but i pushed through it anyways.

      "Oh, your awake." He said, getting up. "Mare told me what happened."

       "Oh she did?" 

     " Yeah" he said before walking up to me and slapping hard on my face. Tears began streaming down my face.

        "I trusted you, I thought that you were helping me get her back, helping me change things, but then you attack her and tell her that you were pregnant with the heir to Norta!" He yelled.

     "That is not what happened." I said standing up. "She blamed me for all of this, and then she tried to kill me. I said nothing. " I coughed after finishing my short speech, and fell on my knees. My vision swirled around like a whirlpool.

     He rushed back over to me trying to help me up, but I pushed him away. "That little slut was playing you, I think she might have more motives then you may think." I said , continued on not bothering if he looked like he wanted to kill me more than he already does. "She's angry with you for choosing your crown over her, she wants revenge not peace and I watched the sucurity tapes-" I couldn't continue I just couldn't, this would destroy him, he wouldn't even believe me.

   "What did you see?" He asked me, his bronze eyes staring daggers at me. My heart sank as I told him of what I saw.

      "Maven's not dead like you thought, they lied about it to save their selves."

"What do you mean Evie?" He asked me, knowing what I was about to say without me saying it.

"Mare she- she helped him escape, and as they were leaving his cell he kissed her, straight on the lips and she didn't stop him." I said my voice becoming dry and tears burning my eyes, "I am so sorry.....Cal." I said, using his nickname for the first time ever.

    His eyes seemed to have lit up when I said it to, and he came over and picked me up keeping me in his warm embrace for what could have been hours.

A/N: I have just decided what the ships in this story are Cal x Evie (the good guys) and Maven x Mare( the villains)
