After putting Ash to sleep, Bev and I decided to have a few smokes outside, before calling it a night.
Bev is on her back, staring up at the stars longingly. I lay on my stomach thinking about things. My dad. My mom. Eddie.
Eddie Kaspbrak
The name echoes in my head, as if my mind is entirely empty and only capable of repeating his name.
As if it's the only name my mind knows.
I bring the cigarette to my lips and take a long drag from it. I almost forgot that Bev was there too, until she spoke up.
"What do you think Bill thinks of me?"
I glance at her, before bursting into giggles. The cigarette smoke wafting in the air beside me. She looks at me with a blush.
"What? What's so funny?" She questions.
"Nothing, nothing. It's just...you're such a dork." I tease, taking one last drag off the cigarette before throwing it aside. "We both know Bill likes you."
She hums in response. "We don't know that for a fact."
I sigh and turn over on my back, watching the stars with her. "Yeah, I guess you're right. But I'm pretty sure he's got the hots for you. He gives you a certain kind of look." I point out.
She blushes and grins.
"Ally...I don't think you should worry much about Eddie. I'm positive he's whipped for you. I can even prove it."
I give her a look that reads, 'go on'.
"Tomorrow, when we meet up with the guys, find some reason to kiss Richie on the cheek. I have an idea." She smirks.
Uh oh.
Worriedly, I question,
"What type of idea?""Just trust me."
"Whatever you say, Beverly Marsh."
After laying out there for another hour, we both stand up and go back inside. Bev and I fall asleep on my bed. My record player repeats the song, "Going to California", by Led Zeppelin.
