Those who still lived in the Castle, walked around with their heads down afraid if they were to look the wrong way their heads would be sent rolling. Many of the paintings that littered the walls were now slashed and broken on the floor.
The sun seemed to no longer penetrate the windows, as winter soon approached leaving the air with a chill that seemed to reach your bones. The nights were approaching quicker than before, as the sun seemed to hide its face behind the dark grey clouds.
Standing outside on a small patio, Anna gazed out at all the Rogues. The home she once knew had changed. Tilting her head up to the sky with closed eyes, she took a deep breath. The Red moon was approaching, and with that magic would be heightened. Those blessed with the gift of magic would be stronger than ever, and those blessed by the Healer on the red moon would become unstoppable.
As she took a deep breath, a smile spread across Anna's lips. This was what she had been waiting for. The first red moon in 30 years would bless her with more power, and with more power meant she could destroy those around her.
A gentle knock on the door had Anna turning around, a small frown settling on her features. Standing behind her, General Arzan stood with a grim smile. Bowing, he spoke. "My Princess."
"Queen." Anna corrected.
Confused, Arzan frowned. "Beg my pardon, but you have yet to be accepted as Queen here."
Glaring down at Arzan, Anna turned her gaze back to the view before her. It was dark but the little lights that littered the Kingdom shone like little stars. She felt like a goddess from up her. All those bellow her would soon bend at the knee, and pledge their loyalty to her. Sighing at the thought, Anna smiled. "I will be." She said. "It is best for you to start calling me Queen now, so you don't forget."
Stepping forward, Arzan smiled. "Please take my sincere apologies, my Queen."
Stepping towards Arzan with a smirk, Anna gazed down at the man. "Do you bring me news?"
"Yes my Queen." Standing to his feet, Arzan pulled out a black sword. Along its blade was writing in old elvish language. The elves were wiped out more than thirty years ago on the night of the Red moon. It was thought the entire race was killed, and along with it their magic.
Turning to one of the Rogues near the door, Arzan nodded. Bowing, the Rogue moved back inside. Smiling, Arzan gazed at his soon to be Queen. "I also have a gift for you."
Frowning down at him, her gaze moved towards the door. Standing at the door, the Rogue carried a man but it wasn't just any man.
"Markus." She whispered.
"I had retrieved the body of your lover, my Queen." Arzan declared proudly. "He died in the arms of Abagail."
Nodding, Anna moved towards Markus' body. His face was void of any colour, his eyes closed. Anger seeped through her body at the sight of him. Although she hadn't felt great love for him, she still needed him to complete her plan. As she starred down at him, a new idea had a smirk gracing her lips.
"Take him to the healer.... I want him blessed with great power."
A small shocked gasp escaped Arzan's lips. "But my Queen, if you do that he will be-."
"Are you trying to deny your Queen her wish?" Anna growled.
Shaking his head, Arzan bowed. "No my Queen... but what happens if you can't control him."
"I will... after all my blood will run through his veins." Turning to another Rogue, Anna's smile vanished. "Take Arzan to a cell."
"What?" Protesting as the Rogue grabbed him, Arzan lunged towards Anna.
Laughing, Anna Ran a finger nail across his cheek. "My love will need to feast when he awakens."
"My Queen please, not me!" He shouted.
With a wave of her hand, the Rogue dragged Arzan away. His pleas for his life fell on deaf ears. She didn't care for his life, she only wanted power. If Markus was blessed on the night of the Red Moon, she could take Toban down along with her big brother.
Placing her hand on Markus' cold cheek, a soft smile graced her lips. "You will come back soon... my love."
