I Just Want to be Here With You

[Hey! Sorry for the lack of update, I'm trying to do it once weekly, but I've been suffering some pretty bad writer's block recently, and I generally have trouble getting down what I want to convey. On another note, I published a RichJake oneshot a while back and it's not nearly as popular as this, so if y'all could go check it out that'd be super great!]

Evan felt Jared tense up against him, he seemed as shocked as he was. Evan didn't even realise what he was doing until it was too late. He'd fucked up, he'd messed up the only, already fragile, relationship he had. He didn't even really know why. He heard Jared getting upset, and it was the first way he could think of to make him stop without being mean.

He noticed now that he'd squeezed his eyes shut, their lips were still pressed against each other, but barely. Jared had frozen, almost completely, his chest rising and falling against Evan's the only movement he was making.

Evan realised now that this was the first time he'd kissed a boy. A boy. He was kissing a boy. He didn't even know he liked boys. Was he gay? No, then why would he have been so head over heels for Zoe. Did he like boys then? Maybe he didn't. But he definitely liked kissing Jared right now. Did Jared like boys? What if he was frozen because he didn't want to kiss Evan? What if he hated boys? He should stop the kiss, Jared was still frozen, his cheeks radiating heat onto his own. He was surely blushing because he was embarrassed Evan was kissing him. Because he didn't like boys. 

How long had they even been like this? Too long. Probably about seven seconds. Eight. Nine. He counted the slow ticking sounds from the clock on his bedroom wall in the uncomfortably silent room. Why hadn't he stopped the kiss? Twelve seconds is far too long to kiss someone who didn't want him to kiss them.

He moved to break the kiss, pulling himself away from Jared hesitantly, before he felt arms wrap around his shoulders tightly, pulling him back to his previous position, then closer. He could feel Jared's racing heartbeat, their chests pressed together, his own arms being the only thing stopping him from falling on top of Jared. He blushed even more than before as he felt the other boy kiss him back, pressing his lips into Evan's aggressively, but at the same time gentle enough that it made his heart flutter.

Jared pulled Evan closer still, very aware of the risk he was taking by holding onto him with no support of his own. Evan had been able to lift Jared since they were kids, he'd always been notably taller and somewhat stronger, even though Jared was almost exactly four months older than him.

He had liked Evan for years now, though he'd been afraid to even come out to anyone, even his moms. It wasn't for fear of rejection, rather for fear of someone, anyone, making links between his sexuality and the way he looked at Evan when the other boy wasn't looking. He was scared as well that he'd been wrong about being gay, that it was just a phase and his 'crush' on Evan would blow over, and he'd have come out all for nought. But feeling his lips locked with his own now, he was sure that this was right.

Suddenly, he felt Evan break the kiss, panting slightly. He stifled a laugh as he watched the flustered boy gasp for breath.

"Ev, did you forget to breathe?"

He saw Evan's warm brown eyes look directly into his own, obviously trying to look annoyed, but unable to hide joy. Jared's stomach did a flip as Evan grinned at him through the panting.

"Sh-shut up, crying for that long gives you a blocked nose, y'know..."

Jared smiled back, biting his lip a little, and spoke loudly, addressing no one in particular.

"Y'all, this boy doesn't know how to kiss and breathe at the same time!"

"Jared, stop. I have every power right now to drop you right onto the ground."

Jared grinned, moving his hand to Evan's left side, resting his fingers against his ribs, and heard Evan gasp softly.

"Jared Kleinman, you wouldn't dare. You know that arm's already weak."

He just grinned wider, before tickling Evan's weak spot gently. 

His reaction was almost instant. He bit back a laugh as his arm collapsed, causing him to fall directly on top of Jared, causing them both to let out a small grunt, but otherwise harming neither of them, the soft carpet of Evan's bedroom softening the fall.

Evan's head soon rested on Jared's shoulder, and he closed his eyes gently.

"Thank you for coming, Jared. I really just needed someone here for me, and apparently you were really the right person to choose."

Jared's smile softened as he moved his arms to wrap around Evan's chest rather than shoulders.

"I'm glad you called me. And did what I've been wanting to do for so long."

"But... What does this make us...?"

Jared sighed, cuddling into Evan more.

"Well, it makes me tired, Ev. It's like midnight-"

"It's ten pm..."

"It's like midnight, and I have a lot of thoughts. I just wanna stay like this and worry about figuring things out later."

"Shouldn't you be getting home, though?"

Jared shook his head slightly, resting his head against Evan's gently.

"Nah. Left a note saying I'm coming here. They'll call your mom if they get worried, which is unlikely. Besides, right now, I just wanna be here with you."

He felt Evan smile slightly against him, and closed his eyes.

Almost instantly, both boys fell asleep.

A few hours later, Heidi arrived home, noticing Jared's car parked outside, she walked straight to her son's room once she got inside.

She opened the door, and spotted the two boys curled up to one another. She sighed, taking out her phone and taking a photo of the two of them, before walking over to Evan's bed and picking up a blanket, laying it over the two, then turned off the light before leaving the room and opening a groupchat on her phone.

Heidi Bodman: Maria you owe us $10 each

Katherine Kleinman: Oh my god

Katherine Kleinman: I told you so! 

Katherine Kleinman: Ten each, Ria  

Maria Kleinman: Shit.  

[Okay so yeah, finally done. longest chapter so far, and I hope it's okay. A couple of sidenotes. 1. Yes, Jared has two mothers. It was entirely random. My sister just scrolled down her instagram feed and we used the first two names that came up, and they happened to both be girls. 2. Thanks again to my sister for proofreads n shit. 3. Ya so Heidi has a fun random (Jewish) surname cuz she and Evan's father never married. Figured I'd make note of it here cuz there's no reason to exposition it in-story]
