5. Long Journey

I have to dealing with this great pain. Fortunately we can get in the carriage on time. Some chariots still chasing us on behind. Their horses almost reaching us.

"Young Master, may be they are still chase after us."

"Let the driver go. Don't let him in troubles because of us. Just drive as usual.", I said with tears on my face.

"Yes, Young Master." Yu Wen replied.

Yu Wen alertness increase when hear the sound of chariots approaching us. Yu Wen still do his best to stay away from them. Until we can enter the forest then they gradually getting away from us.

This body turned into a woman again but this time my endurance during change is getting better.

I comb my hair and tie them with my purple long tape. My body still weak and the cold weather piercing my bone.

The carriage suddenly stop. I know we still in the forest. I get out from the carriage to know what happened. I totally shocked when see my siblings bodies at the ground. They were all dead.

"Please help the baby."

I hear my sister in-law's voice. I looking for her in fog and rainy night. I found her. She was so pale and full of blood in her body. I hold her body and I realize she used her body for cover the baby from rain. She doesn't know if I am her brother in law. Soon, Yu Wen takes the baby from the ground and put her in his embrace.

"Please save this baby. Let my family take her. My brother in-law is Li Jun Jie."

"Yes, I will take care this baby, sister in-law." I can't help when tears and rains drops mix together on my face. "Yu Wen, please take the baby on the carriage.

She still calm without panic or confused. She just give me smile. Looks like she knows I am her family members.

"Jun Jie? Is that you?" She asked and I am nodding.

"I will bring you to-"

"No." She cuts my speech. "Don't go to the North because they were waiting for you over there."

"What?"

My body is trembling. I never thought that the chariots know about this plan.

She gives me her beautiful jade pearl hairpin from her hair. I know she always treasure her hairpin and now she puts it in my coiled hair. Her tremble hand reach my face. From my nostril, I can smell the blood mixed with wet soil.

"Jun Jie, go to the Southern area. There is my own manor. No one know about us there. Jun Jie, you must be hurry. Somebody will help you when you arrived there. Please used that hairpin and the baby. They will help you." She said in agony then she blows away her last breath and it makes my heart break again. I am so sick when see my families member corpses scattered on the ground. They take my heart too when I see no one still life remain here. They all were die and now just me who still remain. I am alone now.

Tonight I decided to buried and give them my last regard for them all. Wish them can forget what happened in the past and start new life.

"Yu Wen, we will go to the Southern. They were know if we will go to the North. We will stay at Southern. Do you remember when my second brother bring us over there?" I asked.

"Young Master, don't worry we will go there safely."

I put the baby in my embrace to make her warm. She must be long time under my sister in-law's body. I change her sloppy clothes with dry garment from my box.

"Baby, be good alright. From now on I will take care of you."

Yu Wen still drive the carriage. This dawn we passing through the forest. I can't sleep last night. The shadow of my family members death has became my nightmare.

Southern area still far away and we need to take a rest for a while but we can't stay in this city because the armies still chase us. We still need buy milk for the baby.

"Yu Wen, we need milk and food."

"Yes, Young Master."

At the crowded street, we take a rest to buy food and milk. Fortunately Jin Er don't have problem with the milk. She looks calm may be she know this time not for crying.

Yu Wen look so tired after drive along night. As usual he always bringing his sword to protect us. We didn't talk a lot just hearing issue about the Li's rebellion has thwart by great general Cheng Sheng Lin.

"Young Master do you want me to kill them?" Yu Wen looks so calm but I know he will if I said so.

"No. We have to stay calm and don't make any moves. We just need to go after finished."

"Yes."

We continue this journey after bought some fabrics for me and the baby. I keep her in my embrace. Sometimes I have to deal when she does pee. I almost panic but after change her cloth she will calm again. I know Yu Wen try to hold his smile when see me take care the baby. He knows that I never take care a baby before and with this body and appearance no doubt if they think I am her mother.

But who is the baby's parents? I don't know her name also. Should I give her a name? My sister in-law wants me take care this baby so I will take care this baby.

We have to deal with hot weather in day and cold weather when nights come. During two days we were go along and this time we arrived at the Southern area but the problem, I was forget where the place that my sister in-law meant in her last words.

We got out from carriage. Southern area almost like a small city. People are walking on the street but I don't dare to talk with them. This place still strange for me. We keep walking silently until a man come after us. He looks at my sister in-law's hairpin that she puts on my hair.

"Lady please follow us." That man said.

Yu Wen see them. "Let my lady get in to the carriage. She with baby right now."

Yu Wen help me to get in the carriage. I still couldn't sleep during this trip. I don't know this people. I think they are my sister in-law's people. They know her hairpin but how about my identity? Let them know me as a lady. This more save for us.

The carriage stopped and Yu Wen open the curtain then help me get out from there. We arrived at a manor. Some maids and servant help us to unload the stuff from carriage.

I still don't know these people but they are so welcome to us. An old man approaching me and bow his body. I reply him like a lady give greetings to the oldest.

"Lady welcome home. Let's take a rest first."

"Home?"

I still confused may be it because I don't know a lot about my second sister in-law. I just know my second brother loves her so much and don't want another wife for him although at that time sister in-law not pregnant yet for years after their marriage. He love her so deeply. She never mentioned about her family to me. I just know she is so humble and help me to approached my first love.

But why that old man mention me as lady? And... home?
