Forgetting Them All, Remembering the Few (OC fanfic)

Chapter 17

Axl's Pov

While fighting Annie I finally get her restrained and she trys to wriggle free. I'm naturally stronger than Annie, so I used to always win when we sparred. She has gotten better though. Her technique has changed from the old days. She finally wriggles free and stands infront of me. She then grasps my upper body and flips me like I did to Reiner. And then she rips off one of my legs and eventually takes me out of my form. Then she runs off to a forest that has hige trees, perfect for her titan to hide in. Im laying in the ground with only one leg and my blood is flooding into a huge puddle and evaporating into the air. I scream and then I hear horses galloping. I look over to see Christa, Jean, Reiner, and Armin trotting toward me and Armin seems to have a bandage around his head. Jean jumps off his horse and runs toward me.

"Axl! What happened?! Are you okay?!" He asks me and the rest crowd around me. Reiner answers for me.

"She fought that abnormal and it ripped off her leg. You'll be fine Axl. You know I'll regenerate." He rolls his eyes and walks back to the horses. Jean picks me up and sets me on his horse. Then he hops up and we head toward Erwin's squad.

We finally reach Erwin and suprise mixed with worry is his expression. He's most likely shocked because of my one leg and worried because we just made up and now I'm hurt. He probably thinks its his fault for sending me out, but it really is my fault.

"Erwin, I'm okay. I can regenerate. Remember?" He nods and I'm put in a wagon for the injured. I lay there and hear Erwin giving orders and horses winnying. Everything goes to plan until black smoke is seen again from the forest. Then it hits me. Levi's squad went through the trees. Eren is with Levi's squad. Annie might try to take him for his titan powers or worse. I try to bite my hand again, but Jean -who was sitting next to me- puts his hand on my arm.

"No Axl. You're too weak right now to do anything." He said in that calming voice.

"But Eren is with Levi's squad! He might get hurt! Or worse!" He kept a tight grip on my arm in case I tried to bite it again.

"Exactly. He's with Levi's squad. If anything goes after him they will have it covered. You've been with them so long that you know that if anything happens they will do anythinh in their power to stop it. Okay?" I look at his calming face and lower my hand.

"Okay." So we sit in silence while Erwin leads everyone around the forest. More footsteps are heard and I pull on Jean's jacket. He leans down and turns his ear close to my face.

"The titan. I have to fight it." He pulls away.

"I'm not having this conversation with you again Axl. You already know what I'm going to say." I start to get angry and want to fight Annie again.

"Jean! You dont understand! I need to fight that titan! Levi and his squad are essential to our survival! Not to mention Eren! They're in terrible danger!" He just stays silent and looks away. "You dont know what it's like to be a titan in the forest Jean! The titan becomes more powerful with the advantage of concealment! Especially a titan of that one's size!" He gets an angry look on his face and turns to me.

"Im not letting you hurt yourself Axl! You're already ripped up enough from that thing and I dont want it to get worse! Understand this Axl, you're not the only important thing on the Earth! That stupid Jeager is a shifter too! If anything happens you and I both know that he will do something about it! Okay?!"

"Okay." And with that we stay in silent for the rest of the way, until about forty-five minutes later. Levi is galloping out of the forest behind us with a cart full of bodies and Eren covered in saliva, looking very weak. I tried to ask Levi what happened, but he just told me there was no time and went to talk to Erwin. He ordered the retreat signal and off it went. Then we headed back towards the wall and on the way there I saw a reminder of my past. It was the old village I usee to live in. I thought of all the memories I've had there and eventually passed out due to the energy lost from regeneration. The last thing I saw was Jean looking over me with caring eyes, most likely thinking about the fact that I used to live outside the walls.
