Rose wakes up to see Luke fast asleep in the chair in the corner of her room. Her head is heavy and pounding, with little strength she grabs an extra pillow from her bed at heaves it at peaceful Luke. He grunts as it collides with his face. “Luke!” Rose groans.

“How are you feeling?” He sits up and stretches his long limbs out.

            “I can’t move. I also don’t want to move.”

“Well, unfortunately you have to move. You have work, but I think you should stay at mine for a few days.”

“Luke, we’ve been over this. I don’t need a babysitter.” Rose’s eyes turn to slits as she glares at her best friend. As slow as molasses she lifts herself off the bed and shuffles to the bathroom door.

“Right that’s why you binge drank a bottle and a half of vodka last night.” Luke knew his words were harsh, but she needed to hear them. “What time do you get off work?”

            “Not till 5.”

“I’ll be by after that to pick you up!” Luke calls on his way out, not giving her a chance to protest. Rose slides off her clothes from the previous night and steps into the hot shower, relaxing her heavy body. Getting out she walks to her room with a fluffy purple towel wrapped around her body. She changes into high waist ripped denim shorts, a baggy brown shirt, over sized cardigan and her favorite black combat boots. Stepping in front of her mirror she begins to cover the dark bags under her eyes. In the car she slides her aviators over her eyes to shield the harsh sunlight on her drive to work.

“Michael!” Calum yells, causing his friend to sit straight up and knock his head into the wall.

            “Ow! Fuck, Calum!” Michael roars.

“What the hell is this?” Calum gestures to all the empty bottles.

“I – I just needed to get rid of the shakes and my headache.” Michael explains, though her knows he messed up.

“Next time wake me up or take painkillers, ok?” Calum sighed. He hated being mean to Michael, it’s not in his nature, but lately he’s been needing more tough love.

“I know, ok. I just I wasn’t thinking.” He runs one of his large hands through his spiky hair.

“Ok, to keep you busy let’s go to that old record store in town. We haven’t been there in ages!”

“Alright!” Michael perks up at the idea. “Let me shower first!” Calum walks away to the kitchen while Michael walks to the kitchen.

“Good morning!” Rose tries her best to be chipper to one of the first customers in the record store that day, a too thin girl with too much eye make up and dark black hair in stark contrast to her ghostly pale skin. She merely nodded in Rose’s direction. From the tall stool she is perched on behind an old cash register, Rose eyes the tall stack of CD’s that needed to be sorted. “Hey, Ash?”

“Yea,” her coworker answers from the back.

“I’m going to sort these CD’s. Watch the register?” A few seconds later he pops around the corner from the back room revealing himself. Ashton is a tall lanky boy, not unlike Luke, with curly blonde hair that hangs down on his forehead. Dressed in dark blue skinny jeans, and a Dead Kennedy’s shirt he’s cut the sleeves off of. She smiles at him and takes the large stack in her arms, wondering through the rows of perfectly alphabetized CD’s and old records, thanks to her. She loves her job. Not only does she love music, but the tedious work of sorting by genre then artist keeps her mind busy. The bell above the door chimes, signaling a new customer coming in. “Morning!” Ashton’s happy voice floats through the store. “Oh, hey Luke.” Rose raises her head to see her best friend.

            “What are you doing here?”

“Just came to say hi,” he flashes a perfect smile.

“Ooo, come here! I’m sorting a bunch of new CD’s I found a few you might like!” He follows her back. Once again the door chimes, and in walks two boys. One of which has distinctive white hair.
