Chapter 22

There stood Soda and Darry all bruised and bloody. I ran up to Soda and Darry, dabbed the tea towel at Darry's nose, and asked worriedly, "What the hell happened to the two of you?" Soda looked down sheepishly. "Keep this on your nose, and sit down" I told Darry. He nodded and did as he was told.

I brought Soda's head up and our eyes met. "Don't be embarrassed okay, now come here you two and I'll clean you both us" I said. "Yup, we will follow you since you're cleaning us up" Soda said for the first time since he has came through the door.

We went into the bathroom and Darry put the lid of the toilet down and sat on it, while Sodapop sat on the edge of the tub. I grabbed the band-aids, a wash cloth, peroxide, and polysporin. I got cold water on the wash cloth and turned back to Darry.

I crouched down in front of Darry and dabbed at a cut beside his eye. He flashed a smile at me that made me shake my head. When I was done with that I put polysporin on a band-aid and put it on his cut.

I got up and said, "You are done, Soda come switch spots and I'll clean you up" I said. "Thanks Maddy, Oh yeah I forgot to tell you that the whole run down side kids are teaming for a rumble tonight, you know how it is, anyways we could use you to our advantage, could you join us tonight?" Darry said getting up and moving out of the way as Soda sat down."

"Yeah, sure. You guys know I can always help out fighting in those" I said flashing him a smile before cleaning up Soda. He nodded and walked out of the room and I turned to Soda who was looking at me cutely.

I started cleaning his face off and heard Soda start to sniffle as he started to cry. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck and he set his head on my chest.
