Chapter 23
The Adventure List
HONGSEOKI focused on the videogame I was playing on TV while Seonho blabbered about a missing calling card someone gave him as he rummaged through the dirty laundry, checking pockets.
"Hyung! What is this?" he asked.
"What?" I asked back lazily as I slouched in the couch, not taking my eyes off the TV.
"Adventure list? Oooh, this isㅡ"
I sprung off the sofa and ran towards him, grabbing the neatly folded paper. "Don't."
Seonho smiled with meaning. "Uh-huh, so I was right. You were dating that Hyunjoo."
I caught my breath and slipped the paper in my pocket. "Why are you even looking through my clothes?"
"I didn't realize it was yours!"
I frowned and jogged back to the couch. Seonho left the pile of dirty laundry and sat down beside me. "Hyung, did you breakup with her?"
I didn't answer.
He sighed. "Well, that must be why you've been looking so down." he said and snatched the list from my pocket.
"Yah!"
He sighed again deeply. "Look at this list. You would have been having the summer of your life with her. Why would you break up with her when it's clear that you still like her?"
I cleared my throat loudly.
"Okay," he said. "Do you wanna, maybe, do these things with me? Except the hot air balloon date and the letter thing, of course. It's just that you've been so out of it ever since I woke up."
I looked at him and I felt guilty once again so I smiled and shook his hair. "Alright, we're going on adventure then."
His lips curved into a smile. "I know I'm not Hyunjoo and you can't kiss meㅡbut I'll try to be fun. We still have a week left of summer anyway."
Only a week of summer left. Will Hyunjoo and I still see each other after this? I'm so curious about where she's going or if she's going to live alone, or live in a dormㅡif she still thinks about me, or if she has moved on, if she hates me, or if... if she still has positive feelings left for me.
I turned to Seonho and smiled. "You better pack your bags then. We're bringing the van."
He nodded. "I'll tell mom and dad too."
I smiled because I didn't even think of that. "You're always the more responsible one."
He rolled his eyes. "Oh, come on. Let's not even start with the word 'responsible'."
He went back to rummage the dirty laundry as I left the living room to call Shinwon.
"Hey," I greeted. By what I could hear in the background, he's outside and Seunghee asked who's calling.
"What's up?" Shinwon asked.
I bit my lip and took a deep breath.
"Woah, man, everything okay?" he asked again.
"Yeah, I justㅡcan we meet up?"
"Uh, what kind of meetup? Am I allowed to bring a girlfriend?"
"NoㅡI mean, I'd like to talk alone."
"Alright. Where?"
"The park."
"I'll be there in five."
