Chapter 26
Off To A New Start
HYUNJOO

It's a family day! My mom and Jinho scheduled a break from work today and we're all eating outside. I took this chance to work on ticking another thing off my list.

As we all sat together in the restaurant for lunch, I clasped my hands and smiled. "Let's eat everything we want today and not think about the bill!"

Jinho chuckled. "Because you are not paying?"

"Hey! I'm trying to say let's have fun here."

He laughed. "Okay, little sister. We won't worry about the bill."

"Yes!" Hyunjee said happily.

"Is it Jinho oppa's treat?" I asked, wiggling my eyebrows.

Jinho rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. You'll be eating ramen for the most of your college life so eat anything you want today!"

"Wait, you're not really going to eat ramyeon everyday, right?" Mom asked worriedly.

I shook my head with a grin. "Of course not!"

Actually, I'm planning to eat lots of ramen. It's just that I always loved it but mom was more into healthier foods.

"Hm, be sure. It's not healthy, Hyunjoo." she said.

"Are you excited?" Hyunjee asked.

"Uh, yeah. Excited and a little nervous."

"Just a little?" Jinho asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Fine! A lot. I'm really nervous."

Mom smiled. "I'll visit a lot."

"You don't have to..."

"Hyunjoo, if you're dating someone, be careful, okay?" Hyunjee said.

I almost choked. "I'm not... seeing someone."

She shrugged. "Well, if you do."

Jinho was quiet. He's the only one who met Hongseok among my family, and it wasn't a very good incident.

"By the way, who sent the package this morning from the mailbox?" Mom asked me.

Oh, right. There was a package for me this morning. One from Hongseok. I still haven't opened it. I don't know what to expect.

I smiled tightly. "Just from a friend."

She easily believed this because Trisha and Chloé send packages frequently.

"So, enough about me! Jinho, what are you up to these days?"

He frowned. "You just asked that like I'm your son and you're asking about how school was."

I chuckled as he kept eating.

"Well, I've just become a multitasker. I'll be training vocalists too starting next month. I already have several students lining up. I'm still fixing my schedule so it won't conflict with the piano lessons, but I'm good!"

"Woah," Hyunjee said. "Why doesn't your talent run in the family?"

"Your dad was a good singer!" Mom said with a reminiscent smile to herself.

I wish I remember. My dad passed away long before I even learn to think, so my mom had been a single mom for so long and she never got in a relationship with any other man again.

"I remember! We would hit the karaoke all the time." Jinho said.

Jinho was ten when our dad passed away. I used to be jealous that he still remembers all the memories spent with him. I remember so little and so vague.
