Dusk to Dawn, Storm to Calm: a Poem

8 2 3

Don't you know the darkness does not last

It is nothing more, nothing less

Than some unneeded thought of your past

Think of casting off the stress

Like rainfall flowing down the pavement

Maybe then you'll see

The situation is not broken but merely bent.

Perhaps then, a small part

Of the sun will poke through

Into your heart

Then it will be seen

That there is no reason to be blue

For you have me and I have you

Whenever a storm passes by,

There is no reason to sit still

Don't let the tears fall down your cheek

As you sit on your windowsill

And cry

Don't let the thunder

Distract you

Don't let it pull you under

Wait it out,

Close your eyes,

Count to ten

And when you open them again,

You will be greeted with a surprise

Of the peace and its pouring spout

There is no need to wait for it again

As it is always with you

Whenever you can find it my friend.
