A Night [In Just One Night So Much Can Change]

Chapter 10

"I'm here because, apparently mom has another daughter that she didn't tell us about. She was put in the system, she ran away from the adoption centre. She went to Dallas, Zach was in Dallas visiting family, they met and he brought her back here. She's staying with us. I don't know exactly what drove her to the point that she wanted to do this to herself but I found her on her bathroom floor bleeding from her wrist holding a picture of mom and dad." I say

Ashely and Jordan look at mom in shock. Mom bows her head, I can hear her silent cries.

"Are you crying mom?" Jordan asks

"Obviously you idoit. Can't you hear her." Ashley says

"Why are you crying mom?" I ask

She looks up at us and wipes away her tears. She take a deep breath and exhales.

"Corbyn do you remember when you were about 4, Jordan was 3 and Ashley was 2?" She asks

"Yeah right before we moved to Virginia, we lived in Dallas." I say

"Well Ashley wasn't the only one that was 2. So was Ashley's twin sister Clarissa." She says

"How did we not remember?" I ask

"We told you guys she was just an imaginary friend." She says

"Okay, so why is this story important?" I ask

"Well our house in Dallas burned down and we thought Clarissa was still inside. The firefighters couldn't find her, we all thought she had died in there." She says

She takes another deep breath and exhales.

"We made you think she was an imaginary friend so it would be easier for guys. A few months after we thought Clarissa died your father left me. I was left alone to take care of you guys and I had to get over Clarissa's death by myself. It was hard at first but I became stronger and I decided it would be best for us to move to Virginia. Once we did, it was a fresh start for all of us. I never forgot about Clarissa I cried every night about it, losing a child is something nobody should go through. It was one of the hardest moments of my life." She continues

"So you lied us." Ashley says

"Ashley it for the best." Mom says

"Lying is never the answer!" Ashley yells

"Ashley calm down." Jordan says

"You expect me to calm down. You lied to me, you made me believe that my own twin sister was just an imaginary friend. If you never had lied to us maybe she wouldn't be in the condition that she is in now!" Ashely yells

"Ashley. You're not the only one going through this." I say

"You didn't lose your twin sister." Ashley says

"No. But I was the one who found her in the bathroom, on the floor laying in a pool of her own blood." I say

"Guys let's not fight about this now." Jordan says

"Fine." Ashley says

"Let's just move on and talk about it later." Mom says

"So, do you know which one of you can donate some blood for the blood transfusions." I say

"I can." Ashley says

"Okay, so when are you going to do it?" I ask

"In a few minutes. The nurse said she'll be here in a few minutes to hook me up." Ashley says

A few minutes pass and the nurse comes into the room. Ashley sits in the chair next to me. My mom and Jordan stay seated on the stools. The nurse introduces herself to Ashley, Jordan and Mom. She hooks Ashley up to the wires and the blood slowly comes into the tube. She makes her way over to me and removes the wires from my arm. I get up and out of the chair. I walk over to the stool next to Jordan and Mom. I decided now would be a good time to call Christina and fill her in on the situation. I pick up my phone and dial her number, as it rings I walk out of the room and make my way out to the waiting room again with the boys. I sit down in the seat next to a sleeping Zach and wait for Christina to pick up. After about 3 minutes of the phone ringing Christina finally picks up.

"Hey!" She says

"Hey. I need to fill you in on the current situation I'm in." I say

"What is it?" She asks

"Well long story short, I have another sister. It's Ashley twin sister her name is Clarissa and she tried to kill her self. Mom kept her a secret from us and now she's in a coma and she needs a blood transfusion. She needs about 8 pints I think and I donated 4 and now Ashley is donating 4." I say

"Well that's a lot to take in. You all must be devastated." She says

" Ashley taking it the hardest." I say

"I mean she kind of lost her twin sister the one that's supposed to be her best friend no matter what." She says

"Yeah, I know. Jordan hasn't really taken everything in yet." I say

"Oh! What about your mom?" She asks

"She's taking it kind of hard but she hasn't really said much." I say

"What about the boys?" She asks

"Well. The boys are taking it pretty hard. Especially Zach." I say

"Why is Zach taking it so hard?" She asks

"I think Zach is in love with her." I say

"Really." She says

"Yep. Jonah is taking it kind of hard to he hasn't said much but I can tell he's taking it hard. They're like best friends pretty much. Daniel and Jack are pretty close with her but not like best friends, just close friends." I say

"How do you feel about it all?" She asks
