CHAPTER 12
Arita finally realized that there was no changing Michael or Jacobs minds at this point. They were so stubborn.
"Daddy, I know it's scary," Arita began, "but momma is coming home." Arita couldn't help smiling, she's wanted to say that forever, and now the words finally came out.
She had told her father last night what they planned to do. At first he was unsure but he knew Michael and Jacob would protect Arita.
"Okay honey." His eyes looked exhausted and the dark rings under them told Arita he had been up late the past few nights.
She put a gently hand to his cheek, "I will bring my mom back." She whispered. "I love you dad."
He kissed her on the forehead, and the four teens were off on their adventure.
Arita had thrown on her orange bikini that made her skin look darker than it was, and a white spaghetti strapped dress that fell mid-thy.
Brookie had on her black and white striped bikini top and green bottoms, covered by a black thin v-neck T-shirt.
The boys wore festive Hawaiian swim trunks. Michael in an orange shirt, Jacob in a blue shirt.
The drive to the school was quite. No one knew what to expect.
They arrived at the school and saw Merissa sitting at the picnic table as she was yesterday.
"Alright guys." She said as they walked towards her, "I'll take you to someone I know that can help you but I'm not digging any deeper okay?" she said, staring at Arita. Arita nodded in agreement.
They hopped back in the car and took the long drive to someone's unknown location.
The house they pulled up to was dark inside except for a a light in the top left window.
The house was medium sized. Curtains were covering every window and it looked abandoned.
"Okay, here we go." Merissa said.
Everyone got out of the car and walked to the distressed white door, and pushed it open.
"Hello?" Michael yelled through the house.
"He's upstairs." Merissa answered.
The five walked up the stairs and Arita looked around, following the rest.
The stairs were just like the door, white and distressed. When they reached the top, the hallway was long and narrow, with chipped blue paint.
Brookie clung to Arita's arm as they looked around, Merissa walked the halls as if she had been here yet a thousand times before.
On the top floor, there three rooms. One on the far left that was full of white clothes over unknown large objects and dust.
The room next to it, held two beds and a dresser. It wasn't very clean or fancy, but looked like someone had been sleeping in there.
The final room was the one with the light on. Inside there were long beaded chains across the windows and dressers. Orange and blue cloths covered the room also, it was lovely.
There was a large round wooden table in the center of the room and a boy sat at it, is back facing us.
"Hey!" Merissa said, walking up to the boy. All Arita could see was the side of his chiseled jaw and brown shiny hair.
He stood up and hugged Merissa then faced us.
"Guys, this is Nick." Merissa announced.
He smiled. His teeth were white and straight. He was tall. Merissa came up to his broad shoulders. He had brown eyes that were gorgeous.
Arita couldn't help it, she stared. He was gorgeous, his smile, his little freckles, everything.
After he glanced at the boys and Brookie, he must've noticed her stare. They held eye contact and Arita noticed a sparkle in his eyes.
She could've sworn her cheeks turned red. She pulled her glance away and stated at the floor grinning.
Brookie noticed Arita's sudden blush and starting opening her big mouth.
"I'm Brooke. But my friends call me Brookie." she smiled and pointed to herself, "This is Michael, Jacob, and Arita." Arita could hear her grin. Arita looked up an waved slightly.
"Honey, your cheeks are red." Brookie whispered.
"Shut up." Arita snapped back.
"Rawr." Brookie clawed watching Arita playfully roll her eyes.
"So Merissa says you can help us?" Michael asked.
"Well what needs to be done?" Nick asked. His voice was deep and glorious.
"Umm, we want to go to Poseidon's Rock to break a pearl from the Sea Queen." Arita stated shyly.
His smile faded, "I'm sorry but thats too dangerous."
"But we have to." Arita argued.
"No, I cannot risk you guys getting hurt like that."
"Please? I have to bring my mother back." She pleaded.
He stared at her, it felt like he was staring into her soul, searching for something.
"Fine." he huffed. "But I'm coming too."
"But-" Arita began.
"No, if you want my help, I'm coming to keep an eye on you guys. Even if you have.. Two guys already there." he looked Michael and Jacob up and down.
"Alright.." They all agreed.
"Come sit." he said, pointing to the chair around the table. Arita was the last to sit and she ended up by Nick and Brookie.
He looked at her as she sat. Arita could hear Michaels loud diss approving look.
Nick pulled out five gold bracelets that held a starfish that dangled from a chain on it.
"These will give you breath underwater and well, a tail." Nick told them.
"Okay, thank you we'll be off." Michael stated, standing.
"hold on, there's a rule with these. They are worth a lot, never take it off underwater. On land you may but know if you are splashed or hit with water, your tail grows. Otherwise that's mainly it." Nick said.
"Okay, thank you, let's go guys." Michael began.
"I'll be out in a minute. We need to drive to Galloon Bay to find The Rock. So I'll meet you guys by the car."
Michael and Jacob walked out to the car, Brookie and Arita sat, still admiring their bracelets, then walking out just in time to see Merissa give Nick a big kiss on the lips.
"Great." Brookie huffed.
