CHAPTER 13

The drive to Galloon Bay was long, and silent. The boys had absolutely nothing to say, dispute their usual talkative selves.

When they finally got there, it was mid-day. The beach was half full of happy children, and sun kissed parents.

The sand was warm and soft under Arita's toes, and the water was cool and refreshing. When she stared out at the open water, she thought she might cry.

"I'm coming mom." She whispered.

"Alright guys, here's the plan; we swim out to the ocean, since there's no lifeguard we don't need to worry about that. Once we are far enough out, we clamp on the bracelets and swim. Got it?" Nick explained.

Arita couldn't help but love the sound of his voice. It was deep and rang throughout the beach.

'No, stop it.' She snapped at her thoughts, bringing herself back to reality.

"Okay, I'm ready." Brookie stated.

"Cool, let's go." Michael said, and him Jacob, Brookie and Nick waded out.

Arita was unsure of the water. Dreams and past memories had given her a bad idea of the water she once loved.

She shouldn't be so afraid.. She used to swim these waters as her home. And a tail wouldn't be knew, she used to have her own... But that was stripped from her just like her mother.

Nick must have noticed her discomfort and walk towards her with an outstretched hand.

"Come on, we'll do it together."

Arita took his hand and they walked out, the water getting deeper and deeper, till it was above the waist. Then the bracelets were clamped on and they dove, bringing the water to a chilling hight over Arita's head.

CHAPTER 14

The water was like a flood of relief and a wave of terror. Arita didn't know what to feel. It was cold and dark at first, but then the bracelet started to work and suddenly the underwater world became a beautiful scenery of green seaweed and colorful coral. Multi-colored fish swam around the salty water.

Then it happened. The tail. All five grew their tails together. It was painless but almost numbing. Arita was swimming behind the group and she watched their tails grow and sparkle in the water. Nick grew a bright blue tail with scales that sparkled. It was majestic and broad like the rest of him. His back muscles were tense and gorgeous as if he could conquer anything. Arita had pulled herself from her thoughts when she ran into a rack of coral.

Michael had a seaweed green tale that complimented his hair, and also strong back muscles. Jacob grew a dark blue tail that was shorter than Michaels and Nicks, but shiny and rough.

Brookies was purple and gorgeous, bringing out her bright blonde hair and stunning eyes.

Arita's tail came out a turquoise color which she loved. It was long and broad and easy to use, how she missed a tail.

The water curved around the tail and under, pushing her forward easily. She could twist and flip as easy as she could walk. The others seem to have a bit of trouble. Except for Nick, which was surprising.

She swam in front of them and flipped on her back, facing the group.

"So where are we heading?" She asked.

Nick looked impressed with her quick learning of the tail. "We have to swim a ways, so enjoy the view." he grinned, and Arita swam back to catch up with Brookie.

The swim felt like eons before they reached any sign of the rock. But finally the came across an underwater land.

Arita and Brookie gasped, "Etnotis!" Arita whispered. Her home. They were back! Would anyone remember her?

She swam with all her might to the city then stopped and watched with the biggest grin on her face. The others joined her.

The view was beautiful. There was a large gold castle in the far left that sparkled in the blue water.

Then Mer-people swam, all around a little village with houses and stores, markets and playgrounds. The Mer-people were all so beautiful, with long hair and sparkly tails. Some held short hair and Multi-colored tails.

Little girls and boys flurried around the town playing with one another or clinging to their parents side.

It was just like Arita remembered.

She swam into the town a little bit looking around and enjoying the scene.

"Arita?" A man with a deep friendly voice called from behind her. She spun around only to find none other than Levi, her brother.
