Silence fell across the room the next morning. When light flooded the water and people started there morning routines, Arita wanted nothing more then stay exactly where she was, and die.
Life had drained out of her vanes, and she was as pale as a clam. Dark bags lined her eyes, showing a lack of sleep the night before.
She turned her fin so she sat on the edge of the bed. Slouching, she sighed and slowly got up.
"Hey Hun.." Brooke said, slowly entering the room and tapping on the door.
Arita turned her head towards her friend with her dark sad eyes.
"Hi" she croaked.
"Ready to go?" Brooke asked softly, walking towards Arita.
Arita nodded slowly and they walked out the door, headed for the boys.
After they all met up, they started on there way to find the rock.
The silence between the group was overpowering. Death had struck, and when it left, it took all of the energy and perseverance to grasp anything.
When Arita finally couldn't take the silence she spoke up.
"How'd you guys sleep last night?" She croaked. It was honestly a stupid question, because judgeing from how she slept, they all slept horribly.

They looked up at her with a glance that told her she shouldve just kept her mouth shut. But instead of bowing her head and going back to staring at the ground, she opened her big mouth one more time.
"What? Am i not aloud to ask how you guys are doing?" Angry sarcasm dripped from her mouth and she glared at them. Especially her brother he was giving her a frustrated stare.
"We never said that, Arita." Brooke spoke calmly. But Micheal seemed to have a different oppinion on what she said.
"Its not that you arent aloud to ask a question like that, its the fact that you even thought we had good night rests. I'm mean did you really sleep that well that you desided to ask if we slept just as well? Think Arita. Some of us are actually hurting."
He looked away from her and swam a little farther ahead. At this point Arita's blood was boiling. Did he really think she wasnt hurting? Because if that's what he thought, he is sadly mistaken. And instead of biting her tounge, she had an angry outrage.
"Do you think im not hurting too? IS everything suddenly about you now? Because if you honestly think im not hurting then youre in for something big, buck-o. im hurting more than you could imagine. I didnt sleep a blink last night because i couldnt stop myself from crying. You arent the only one that lost a brother last night. And if you think you are just because he was my step-brother then you need to have a reality check." at this point Micheal had stopped swimming, but Arita was just getting started on her rant. "I cannot believe you actully have the nerve to tell me i dont care about Jacob. The whole thing is my fault! I'm the reason hes dead! For god's sake Michael, quit revolving the world aroumd youself!"
After Michael held his stern look for a little longer, he finally relaxed and swam over to Arita, placeing a gental hand on her back.
"I'm sorry, Rita. I just.. I miss him so much."
She looked up at him and nodded in forgivness. Then they held each other in silence.
After tears were shed and hugs were given, the mood slightly seemed to brighten. The waters were slightly bluer and the moment a large grey rock was in view, life couldn't have been better.
The group swam as fast as they could, not believing their eyes.It was a magnificently large and tall rock, stretching up to the high waters. Names were written in gold all along the the rock. It was wide, holding millions of names. It was then Arita realized where all the poor souls were trapped.
Sadness and excitement swept over her. It was finally the day she would see her mother again. If only she could find her pearl, then all would be okay.Just as she thought of how to get her pearl, a dark figure floated towards the group. Everyone stared and watched, Nick swam behind Arita and gently grabbed her arm. She could feel the stiffness in his muscles.
When the figure got closer it's outline became clearer, long black hair started to swirl around the body. Gold pearls whipped in the deep blue and a majestic glow swept through the waters. Tinted green skin swam forward, with golden shells as a top. When the woman approached close enough, her eyes met Arita's. The woman's green eyes pierced Arita's soul. She could feel them recognizing her and pouring into her mind, reading her thoughts and deepest secrets.
But the only thing Arita was thinking of, was her mother, and if this woman was the good guy, or another bolder in Arita's path.
A thin smile crept along her green lips.
She knows me. Thought Arita.
"Hello." Her voice was graceful and majestic.
Before Arita could get a word out, Michael stepped forward in front of her.
"Who are you?" He asked strongly.
"I am the one that can help you finish your journey. I know why you're here."
Arita stepped in front of her brother in excitement.
"You'll help us? Really? Great! I think my mothers name is over here..." Arita turned to the rock looking for her mothers name, and rambling.
"Little one." The woman said, making Arita turn and face her.
"Yes?" Arita answered meekly.
"Are you prepared for the cost of the pearl?"
There was silence among the group. The price would be a high cost, a cost Arita didn't know if she could pay. But it was her mom. She would do anything for her own mother! They were so close, she wouldn't let a silly cost ruin her chances of seeing her mother. Not after all this. Finally, she came to a decision. And with all eyes on her she answered.
"Yes."
