(Emma's POV)My lovely little escapade through the passages of the castle was not very ideal. Aside from the massive amounts of cobwebs, I could hear creaking noises, and my arm would keep brushing against something disgustingly moist, I'm not sure I even want to know what it was. But thankfully, I never encountered any gaurds or suspicious people, so there was no need for the sword.
I look around the docks, there are many boats, all different sizes and designs. One specific ship catches my eye, The Jewel of the Realm. Killian's ship. It's definitely the largest ship here, floating atop the shimmering blue ocean. The ocean reminds me of Killian's eyes... No it doesn't.
I attentively step onto the already laid out gangplank of the ship. As I walk up it, I hear and see men aboard, I can only assume they're the crew. But unless Killian is here, these men aren't expecting me."Who are you?" A young man with scraggly blonde hair approaches me before I can step onto the ship. He moves himself closer too me, far closer than that which makes me comfortable. I would back up, but unfortunately this gangplank is narrow and I don't wish to fall in the water. I stay where I am avoiding eye contact with him and I keep silent. After a few seconds he speaks again, "I said, who are you?"
I unwillingly open my mouth to speak, then I quickly shut it when I see a certain prince step into view. He ascends the gangplank and joins me at my side. "Is there a problem here?"
"N-no, sir. I didn't know she was with you is all. My apologies." He speedily moves away from me and back onto the ship. Killian unexpectedly puts his arm around my waist and helps me onto the ship. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel chills run through my body in that moment. The rest of the men on the ship seem to notice our presence as they all stop talking to look in our direction.
"This is short notice," Killian says loudly, so that everyone can hear. "But we're sailing out. All will be explained later on. If you happen to have any questions, save them for later." The men stay still, as if waiting for commands. "Don't just stand there! Get to work!" They all obey him and scurry of into different places of the ship.
"Love," Killian's voice softens the moment he turns to talk to me. "Did you get out of the castle safely?"
His voice soothes me for some odd reason. "Yes, I did. I didn't encounter anyone, so I think your plan worked."
"Brilliant," he smiles softly.
Not that I am complaining, but I wish he'd stop smiling like that. It leaves my stomach in knots.
Many hours later
Killian had kindly shown me around the ship and showed me to an extra room, below deck, that I can stay in while we're on the ship. He had specifically told his crew not to bother me, if you know what I mean.
Right now I'm sitting on the edge of the bed I'm using. We're sailing smoothly and as far as I know, all is well. Sadly, I haven't had much of a chance to talk with Killian, he's been busy instructing the crew and such.
I feel... lonely. I've tried sleeping but it's no use. I suppose I'm just not used to sleeping in a small room while sailing on the wild ocean.
For some confusing reason I feel the need... the urge... to talk to him. To be near him. To be in his presence.
I contemplate with myself for a few moments, deciding whether or not I should go and see him, but I reach my resolve and walk to the door of his quarters. He showed me around earlier on so I can find my way around fairly easily.
I knock on the large door to his room.
"Who is it?" He says in a tone of no emotion.
"Emma," my voice seems to be quiet, but he hears me, for a moment later the door unlocks and opens widely.
"Why are you here, love?" He motions for me to follow him into his room and he closes the door behind us once we're both in.
There's a large bed in the corner of the room, a desk and a chair in another corner, and other scattered pieces of furniture and decor surrounding his room.
"I..." Stop hesitating! "I just couldn't sleep."
"Me neither," he smiles. "Maybe this is our chance."
Our chance? What!? Our chance for what!?
My heart beat increases it's speed within seconds.
"Our chance..?"
"Yes. Our chance to get to know each other better. We've got nothing better to do."
Oh...
"Right. Yes, of course."
(Killian's POV)
Emma stays in my quarters longer than I expected her to, but I couldn't be happier about that. Over the few hours she's in here we get to know each other all over again, we talk about our memories from our time as children, our current interests, and many other topics.
Apparently she finds me funny? She keeps laughing that beautiful laugh of hers, I could listen to it all night.
She's bloody perfect.
