(Killian's POV)

Ever since I was a young lad, I had an appreciation for balls. Though, I'll admit it was mainly because of the beautiful ladies. But now, I actually have a fondness for dancing. And I also get to spend this lovely night with Emma. I don't care about anyone else whom will be attending, just her.

I stand off to the side of the room, the ball has already started and Emma isn't here yet. Per usual, many women attempt to throw themselves at me, but I either ignore them or kindly decline.

I stare at the entrance up the ballroom waiting for my princess... I mean the princess, to enter. A few minutes later. She's wearing a black dress with white embelishments over her chest and around her waist. The dress is tight on her torso, but flows out starting at her waist. Her hair is put into a loose and low bun, and I'm not really an expert on women's fashion, but I do know that she looks aboslutely gorgeous.

She appears to be looking around the room, probably unsure of where to go. That's when I take the oppurtuntiy to sneak over to her. To do this, I have to dodge her glances, hide behind big dresses, and duck down a lot. I must look ridiculous, but I have no one to impress except her. When I finally reach where she is, she's standing alone. I quietly walk up directly behind her and put both of my hands on her waist which makes her tense up, then I lean in towards her ear. "Surprise." I say simply. She must recognize my voice, because I feel her relax in my hold. "You look lovely, Swan." She turns around, and I remove my hands from her.

"Thank you..." She smiles kindly.

"Care to dance?" I hold my arm out to her and she accepts it. We slowly make our way to the center of the room and begin to dance.

Meanwhile (In Ireland)

"Brennan!" Ava Jones abruptly stops pacing the room and turns to her husband, Brennan. "You're not listening to me! We can't keep living like this; this rivalry between the Nolan's and us, it just isn't  right." Brennan starts to interrupt but she continues talking nonetheless. "I know what you're going to say. 'It's their fault that Liam is dead.' That may be so... but it was an accident. And because of this feud, the only son we have left is missing! Are we really gaining anything from this?"

Brennan hesitates, coming up with something to say. "I don't think you understand-"

"Oh, I understand perfectly. You're just being a bastard whom is too prideful to put this aside, become allies with England again, and get our own son back!" She huffs, tears springing to her eyes. "And until you finally see the light, I'm not speaking with you. Good day." She crosses her arms and storms out of the room, leaving a puzzled Brennan to his mixed up thoughts.

Back at the ball

(Emma's POV)

After dancing for a perfect amount of time, Killian suddenly pulls me aside and walks outside onto the balcony with me.

"What are we doing?" I ask, tilting my head to the side as curiosity begins to take over.

He leans against the white railing of the balcony, the pale full moon light shining down on him. "Emma..." he glances away then returns his eyes to mine.

"What's going on?"

He laughs in a nervous manner before speaking. "Emma... I like you. A lot. I never stopped liking you actually. I tried to vanquish the feelings, but they wouldn't go away. I couldn't keep them in... I had to tell you."

He likes me...

I stay silent, trying to process what he just said. After a few minutes of silence, he takes a step back. "I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have said anything. I never should have thought this would be mutual. Goodnight." He states stiffly. He turns around and starts walking away, until I finally find my voice again.

"Killian! Wait!" He stops and turns around, then stays still.

I do the only thing I can do. I run to him, my skirts flowing behind me, my heart beating faster than ever. When I get to him I hold his face in my hands in pull him to me, connecting our lips in a heated kiss. I can tell he's surprised, but he quickly melts into it and returns the favor. I feel his hands on my waist, holding me close. The fireworks lovers experience in books, well, those fireworks are real and they're exploding everywhere. After a few minutes I pull away to breath, staring up into his breath taking blue eyes.

"I like you too..." I smile, biting down on my lower lip. He smiles as well, moving his hand up to caress my cheek.

"I can tell." He chuckles softly.

After we stare at each other for a few minutes more, he walks me to my room, kisses me goodnight, and leaves me.

Tonight has definitely gone better than I thought.
