(Emma's POV)

Just as promised, the ship is docked at noon the following day. The weather seemed to be favoring us well as we hadn't any trouble on the sea. Killian's men treated me with respect and kindness, which I am thankful for.

Killian made sure to dock the vessel a ways away from other people, so as to not be seen as an enemy. Only him and I depart the ship, he says we don't need anyone else.

He and I are both wearing long and lengthy cloaks, with baggy hoods hanging over our faces. The less commotion, the better.

Hours later, I'm feeling extremely tired. Walking for such a long time in a dress and healed shoes isn't the ideal situation. Especially if you're not used to walking this much in general. Killian, of course, seems to be fine.
Soon enough, the castle is in view.

The castle. My home. The place where I shared so many fond memories with Killian.

We soon approach the back entrance of the castle, by heart is beating quicker every second and it's beginning to get harder to breath. I'm nervous, yet excited, yet terrified for what's to come.

"Announce who you are," a stiff guard says once we reach the back entrance. I slowly pull the good of the cloak off of my head, revealing my face. The guard immediately recognizes me with wide eyes, "Apologizes, your highness. If you'll come with me, I believe your parents will want to see you..."

"I'll go alone if it's not a problem... with my companion that is." I say, gesturing to Killian. The guard nods and we walk at a fast pace to the large doors. We enter the palace, and surprisingly nothing has changed. It all looks the same, I recognize the servants we pass, and everything seems normal. But then I see him. And he sees be. He's holding something, and I can't quite see what it is because I'm blinded by tears of joy that are stinging my eyes. Whatever it is he was holding is now on the ground, he dropped it. He's running towards me, and I'm running towards him. He envelops me in a warm fatherly hug, one of the things I missed about him.

"Emma..." my father mumbles softly as he holds onto me, I never want to let go. All my worries are faded in this moment. "Y-you're alive... and safe..."

"I am," I whisper, after a few minutes. I pull away a little then acknowledge Killian, "and it's all thanks to him."

My father does a double take as he looks at my rescuer. Killian bows out of respect, looking my father in the eyes. "Your majesty,"

"Prince Killian..?"

He nods, confirming fathers suspicions. A few minutes pass and father thanks him for what he has done, after I explained that he isn't a threat. The mood is cheerful until I ask, "Where's mother..?" The mood isn't cheerful anymore, not in the least. Father's eyes turn a dull blue color, clouded with sorrow.

I immediately regret asking that question.

||this chapter literally sucked, sorry. I needed to update even though I have 0 inspiration. I'll make the next one more interesting and better written, I promise||
