(Killian's POV)

A few hours after I left Emma to have time to herself, I hear the door separating our rooms open. Emma's pale, thin, figure steps into my room.

"You said we needed to talk?"

"Aye. Emma, love, people are soon going to notice that you've gone missing, and I believe I will be one of the most likely suspects for your disappearance. I can't have them know that you're with me, not for my safety, but for yours. Eventually, we'll need to leave this kingdom." I've thought long and hard about this, and it's the best decision. For both of us. If my parents want to continue being enemies with England, which they do, then I can take no part in that.

"Leave?" She looks at me, confused.

"Yes. I happen to own a ship, she should be just the perfect escape mechanism. I can easily sail, and I have a fairly trustworthy crew. As soon as I can make arrangements, and once you're well enough, we'll leave."

"I can't have you do this... you're risking too much. And besides, you're the heir to the throne! You can't simply leave that behind."

"I can and I will."

"You don't even know me anymore, there's no point in helping me."

"You're still Emma Nolan, correct?"

"Uh... yes?"

"Then I do know you. You're just older, more mature, and more beautiful." Did I just call her beautiful? Curse you, Killian!

There's that lovely blush again, forming on her cheeks.

"Don't try and convince me not to help you, because it won't work." I say softly. "After we've escaped from Ireland, we're going back to England, to reunite you with your parents."

Her eyes become shiny, tears welling up. But I can tell she won't let them fall, she's always been a tough person.

"Thank you so much," she smiles, widely, and genuinely. "How could I ever repay you?"

The first thing that pops into my head is, a kiss, but no. I couldn't ask that of her. Not yet, anyway.

"There's no need." I shake my head, smiling lightly.

(Emma's POV)

Three days later

I'm eternally grateful for everything Killian has done for me already. He's tried to make me comfortable as possible, always checking in on me and making sure I'm doing alright.

He managed to get a bath ready for me, which was very soothing and much needed (don't get any ideas, Killian wasn't in the room with me while I bathed). He has been giving me full meals, and water. I'm starting to get gain my normal weight back, my bones aren't as visible, much to my relief. I'm not dizzy anymore and my cough is completely gone.

One day I'll repay him. I don't know how, but I will.

He and I haven't had a lot of time to talk, though I wish we had.

What? Emma, hush, he means nothing to you, you don't want to talk to him.

He's been busy with his royal duties as a prince.

Luckily no one has seen me out of that dreaded cell. And no one has noticed that I've been missing. Until...

(Killian's POV)

"Emma!" I burst into her room, seeing if she is still here, and she is. "Thank the lord you're here."

"Of course I'm here, why wouldn't I be?" She looks at me, confusion clouding her face.

"We need to leave. Now." I say firmly.

"Killian, what's going on?!" She starts panicking.

"They've found out. My parents have found out that you're missing from the dungeon. They have the guards searching for you, and it won't be long until they find you." I pace the room, back and fourth, as I explain. "I have a plan, listen carefully. You need to go down the passage way that leads into the dungeons, once down there follow the hallway until you reach the end of it. There you will find the brick wall which has a brick with an 'X' written on it, push on it, it's a door. It's not nearly as heavy as it looks. Exit through that door, it will lead you through a dark tunnel straight to a wooden door. Now, this wooden door leads outside, facing the village. Do you remember where the docks are?"

"Yes," she replies quietly.

"Very good. When you are outside I need you to run like you've never run before, as fast as possible, run straight to the docks. My ship is the largest one out there, it should be easy to find. It's called the Jewel of the Realm. Can you do this, love?" By now, I'm standing closer to her than I realized.

"Yes," she says again. "What about you? Where will you be?"

"I need to retrieve provisions, and it's a high risk for you to come with me, the palace is crawling with gaurds. I'll meet you at the ship, I promise. But you need to leave, now ." I quickly swoop down to her face, and kiss her cheek. Before she even has time to react I pull my sword out of it's sheath. "Take this," I hand it to her. "If someone comes at you-"

"I think I understand the idea," she confirms. "Goodbye, then."

"Good luck, Emma." I watch as she leaves the room, with an air of confidence about her.
