Alex's POV:
My gut twisted upon entering Rose's guest bedroom.
I had heard the laughter outside the door, but I had hoped it wouldn't be true. Alas, Rose and I entered quietly to find Kat on top of Luca, wrestling over a pillow. Luca was shirtless, just as he was this morning when I awoke next to him.
I inwardly sighed. Kat is so beautiful.
I averted my eyes away from her lean body and nice ass. She was only wearing her blue bra and panties. My heart clenched at seeing the smile on Luca's face as he stared up at her.
"Guys, there're other pillows on the bed," Rose giggled.
Both jumped and turned to look at us. Luca's eyes glanced at me, a guilty look flashing across his face. I crossed my arms and leaned against the door, holding my chin higher. He doesn't matter. Kat matters.
But it felt nice to wake up next to him earlier today. I didn't know when we fell back asleep, but the next time I awoke, Luca was gone.
And now it appeared he was Kat's. Stupid girl, thinking he would choose you over his new Queen. I mentally shook the thoughts from my head. Kat was my best friend. I loved her more than anything. Kat matters.
Still, after asking me to get on his bike with him yesterday, a small part of me had grown attached to Luca. He chose me first. It was a privilege I was rarely given. Having seven brothers and sisters often interfered with that.
No matter I thought quietly, scampering over to plop myself on the bed. I'll show him he doesn't bother me. I'll show him I don't care. I'll show him.
Kat matters. Luca doesn't.
Kat's POV:
"This is a lot to take in a short amount of time," I reminded the group, now pacing back in forth of Rose's guest room.
"How are we going to get to Switzerland?" Alex piped up.
"What's going to happen after that?" I asked.
"Will there be any hot princes?" Rose added.
"What will we tell our parents?"
"What will the vampire families say?"
"How many princes are there?"
"Do you three ever stop asking questions?" Luca groaned, throwing his hand dramatically over his head.
His other hand reached out to pull at Alex's hair, twisting the red curls around his ring finger.
"Why can't we just go?" He asked simply.
Alex turned her head to give an educated retort, but Caspian cut her off.
"We will take a plane to Switzerland tonight. After that, we will travel to Windamere, our home, and then to Avolire Castle. You will go home today and explain to your families this scholarship opportunity came about and its urgent you leave tomorrow. I'll give you a number they can call to confirm. I'll tell them the basics, we have your passport, we have everything provided, your child will be safe, etc. Whether or not you chose to return after being in Avolire is up to you."
"Except for you," Luca informed me.
"No," Caspian told him, looking directly at me. "She may chose her own path. Just know, Annalina, once you are in, there is no going back."
Hearing my given name from Caspian's lips resonated within me.
Everyone looked at my expectantly.
