AUBREY
I woke in a white room sitting on Aidens lap. I smile to myself, he's sleeping so peacefully, he looked so calm, stress lines that ran all over his face before were gone now.
"Well good morning." Aiden said to me with his eyes closed.
I nodded at him, "Where are we?" I asked.
"The hospital."
"Oh." I said and laid back into his chest. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure." he said looking at me curiously.
"Can we adopt Lilly?"
"Who is Lilly?" he asked me skeptically.
"She's the...oh I don't know what it's called but she's like the weakest in Domenics pack. Everyone is mean to her." I said looking up at him with pleading eyes.
"She can stay here but I cannot adopt her into this pack. It would offend Domenic and the last thing I want is a war that can be avoided." He said then laid back in the chair.
"Can you at least consider it?" I asked.
He sighed with his eyes closed, "I guess."
I smiled and kissed him on the cheek, "Thanks."
I sighed and cuddled back into him, taking time to examine the room. We were sitting in a recliner that was covered in floral print, the lights at the ceiling were bright but not so much so.
There was a bed in the middle of the room with a large lump in it, a man lay there sleeping peacefully.
Slowly I got up and walked to the bed, I touched the mans face, he had shaggy brown hair and a smooth gentle face.
I knew him, but I couldn't put a finger on it, "He'll be alright, we think, his body may still reject the change." Aiden said yawning and walked up beside me.
My eyes grew wide, "Tommy?" I gasped and reached for his hand, this man in front of me on this bed looked nothing like my crippled baby brother. This person was a man, bigger than I, and much more built.
A woman came in and started doing something to him, injecting something into his I.V. bag.
"What is that?" I asked protectively.
"Something that will help him sleep and help with the pain." the woman said simply.
"Is he in pain?" I whispered looking to Tommy.
"Don't know. He hasn't woken up and said so. But just to be sure I'm giving him this." she said.
I nodded, and sat back down, taking off my sweatshirt.
I was so hot, sweat beeded of my head, funny how I was fine a minute ago but now I'm like dying of heat stroke.
Aiden sat by the bed and watched Tommy.
"So you hungry?" he asked me. I nodded my head excitedly. I was starving.
"Well what do you want? I can make...mac and cheese? or a sandwhich? or...whatever is in the fridge that can be warmed up?" he said.
"Why don't we just make Paula make something?" I asked. As much as I hated her she cooked pretty good.
"Paula no longer lives here." He said.
I gasped and chocked on my spit, after I about hacked up a lung I spoke, "What!! Why?" I nearly screamed. "I mean not that I'm gonna' miss her or anything...I'm just curious" I added quickly.
"Because she's not my mate. And her kids are not my kids." he said simply.
"Wow. Never saw that one comming." I said with a chuckle.
