I get that I left my light on, but Richie woke me up and now I gotta fuck him up.

"Hi." He said, looking up at me. He was shivering. Should've worn a jacket.

"As punishment for waking me up, I'm not letting you inside." I spoke down to him, putting my hand on my hip.

"Please?" He asked, smiling.

I squinted at him. "Bleh. Fine. But only because you won't stop asking." I backed out of the window and turned around.

I hear him say 'but I only asked you once' but decide that I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that.

When I get downstairs, my mom is snoring as if she's been hibernating for weeks.

The door opens, and Richie shuffles in quickly. "Sorry. I saw you down here through the window and I was turning into a fucking ice cube out there."

He rubs his hands together to create friction and I smile at him. "Well, I'm not an ice cube. If anything, I'm a fireball."

"My dick is a fireball when I look at your mom." He said, gesturing to my mother snoring on the couch.

"Well, that was pretty damn low. Lets go upstairs. You can wrap up in some blankets. It's kind of brisk outside, huh?" I make conversation, climbing upstairs.

"Yeah.." He says after a while. So much for that conversation.

"So, what brings you here on this lovely home?" I try to start another conversation.

"I don't know. My house gets quiet, and though you're a bag of dicks, you live closest to me." He replies.

There we go. Some talking.

"I'm pretty sure Ben lives closer to you than I do." I shrug, smiling.

Maybe he wanted to see me.

"Yeah, but Ben is an even bigger nerd than you. With all his history and poetry."

"That's true." I conclude, walking into my room and throwing Richie a blanket. He wraps it around his shoulders and sits on my bed.

I pop a tape of music into my tape player. I'm incredibly proud of this tape. Only the best of the best songs are on here.

I sit down next to Richie and start bouncing in an awkward dance-like way, giving him finger guns.

He smiles and does the same. If this doesn't warm him up, then nothing will.

Soon we reach the chorus and we both start singing.

Really loud.

"ITS GONNA TakE A LOT TO DRAG ME AWAYYYY FROM YOUUUUUUU,,

THERES NOTHING THat A hUNDRED MEN OR MORE COULD EVER DOOOOOO,,

I BLESS THE RAINS DOWN IN AFRICAAAAAA!!!"

We sound great, voice cracks and all.

I worry for a second about my mom waking up, but then realize that I'm not supposed to care.

Richie is glowing like the sun, and he's genuinely laughing. Not in a condescending way.

And everytime he laughs, I fall more in love with him.
