Chapter 8: The Silver Ball
Jane's POV
"HONEY! You need a dress for the silver ball. Don't tell me your not going! You are!" My mum screams from my closet.
This is the dreaded day, now don't get me wrong, I love clothes shopping as much as the next person. But clothes shopping with my mother? Yeah, nah.
But I clearly have no choice, I grumble and trudge my way to my closet.
Unless, I sprout an ingenious idea.
"Mum! Can I go to Amy's house? She has dresses I can borrow!" I pop my head into the room, smiling wide and hopeful.
Hopefully that gets me out of dress shopping, I hear a sigh.
"Fine! But take pictures of the dress options." She pauses, I wait in anticipation to leave.
"Ronald's gonna be home tonight too and he wants you to meet someone so." Ronald is my mum's boyfriend, he's a good man and has been around since- Well, I was young.
She pauses again, I wait in anticipation and impatience.
"Be back before 6!" My mum shouts.
I nod, then realize she can't see me, idiot. "Sure mum! See ya tonight!"
I throw on a sweater and jeans, running down the stairs and out the door. I take out my bike, riding it all the way to Amy's place.

I check my phone gps, This has got to be the house.
As I stop, I look up to the large and prestigious mansion that is Amy's house. I've always wondered what Amy's parents do for a living to be able to afford such a large house, shareholder?
Before I can think of anything I am slammed into Amy's warm embrace.
"Jane!" Amy squeals, embracing me tighter.
"How is everything? How did it go with Eli? Are you going to the Silver Ball? Who are you going with? And most importantly.. What are you wearing!?" She explodes with curious questions.
I stand there, bamboozled as to how much air can fit into her to say so much without catching a single breath.
"Slow down Amy, breathe" I breathe in deeply, Amy follows with a deep breath.
"Thanks, girl." she smiles warmly as she takes my hand, leading my up her driveway.
"I've got to much to tell you! I feel like we haven't really gotten to chat y'know? Girl to girl." She turns back to me as we reach her front door, she opens to reveal the marble staircase.
She nods solemnly, knowing my reaction. "Your house is beautiful." I say, scanning the foyer.
"You haven't even seen the best part." She grins, as I follow her up the stairs.

When we arrive at what I assume is the main balcony, Amy then abruptly claps her hands together. With that cooks appear out of nowhere. With pastries and drinks, Ooo mexican food.
I'm kidding! There was already a row of assorted macarons and some tea on the table. However the gesture was equal in both scenarios.
I smile and run to the food. "I HAVE OFFICIALLY FALLEN IN LOVE WITH YOU AMY!!" She laughs and motions for me to sit, so does she.
"Firstly, what did you do yesterday afternoon?" She asks innocently, taking a sip of her tea. I fumble in my seat uncomfortably.
"I walked home and had...food?" I state, making it sound more like a statement than a question. She raises an eyebrow, I look down with alertness and grab a macaron, scarfing it down.
