United at Last

It was him. I'm so sure it was him.

''So what is a girl like you doing sleeping on the ground, eh?'' The guy asked.

His voice confirmed it all.

It was how I imagined it to be though slightly lower and more husky. It sounded better than what I thought it would be. It had a strong Australian accent with a hint of god knows what but IT WAS HIS VOICE!!

I pretty much lunged at him and hugged him. Hugged him as if he would disappear any second now. Hugged him as if my life depended on it. Hugged him because I had longed to do the same thing for months now. I hugged my best friend.

''It's you. It's really you!'' I said feeling tears burn the edge of my eyes. I refuse to cry.

''Darina?'' He asked pulling back to look at me incredulously. ''D-Darina?! Oh my god!'' He hugged me and tightened his grip on me.

We held each other like that for minutes until we both finally decided to reluctantly pull away.

''Hi'' I whispered, a tear rolling down my cheek.

Stupid emotions.

He reached over and wiped it away with his thumb.

''Hey'' he said at the same volume, grinning.

He started walking and judging by the look he gave me when he glanced back, u think I was expected to follow.

''So,'' he chuckled ''what brings you here?'' He asked, staring at me.

I felt slightly self conscious under his gaze but then remember he was Raven.

''Long story short, meaning I'll explain in detail later on, you went all 'MIA' on me so I decided to come and find my best friend.'' I hit him on the head.

He gaped at me and then rubbed the spot I had just hit him ''what was that for?!'' He asked exasperatedly though I could hear the amusement in his melodic-like voice.

''For leaving me.''

He looked at me, guilt flashing through his amazing eyes ''I'll tell you about my sudden disappearance missy after you're done explaining you're sudden appearance.'' He said with a wink.

''Fine!'' I playfully rolled my eyes. ''So after it was bordering 9 weeks, I decided enough was enough because Raven, I need you. I need you to talk to everyday, I need you to assure me of the things I'm uncertain of and I need you to be my best friend.''

He pulled me into him and kissed my forehead ''I'm so damn sorry.'' He mumbled into my head ''but that still doesn't explain why I found my bestie on the damn floor like a homeless person.'' He added.

I laughed ''oh yeah! Damn, you're getting me sidetracked. So I booked a flight here and left a note. When I arrived, the taxi... I think you guys call it a cab... But anyway, the driver drove off with my bags. After that,'' I thought back - my memory was horrible ''I knocked on your door and Aria (she's cute by the way) opened it and told me you weren't home so I decided to wait for you. I'm a lazy ass so I sat down and fell asleep; here we are now.'' I finished off. ''You're turn mister!'' I playfully nudged him.

''I'm flabbergasted, honest.'' He replied.

''Oooh big words!'' I teased like the many times he's done it to me.

''Come on. It's starting to get cold. I'll take you to my place, yeah?'' He said seriously, putting his jacket on me. It was a cute gesture but I shrugged it off and have it back.

''I love you and all but stop being a damn gentleman. It's Darina; not Alison or any other meat of the week.'' I winked his way and he just smirked, taking the jacket back.

''C'mon, you loser.'' He said taking me inside.
