I was lying on my back staring into the darkness. I could hear (if I properly concentrated) the faintest of snores coming from the boy mere feet away.

After another argument about our sleeping arrangements, we both somehow came to the conclusion that we would both sleep on the floor. Yes, this did leave a perfectly comfortable bed on it's own but Raven and I both refused to sleep in it.

We had moved it out of the way and were on the carpeted ground with blankets and pillows flung everywhere and a fair distance apart. He has got a girlfriend after all.

Not that that makes a difference!

I mean, we're best friends, not cuddle buddies... Though we had joked before about him being my bitch.

I smiled at the memory that seemed so long ago. Reality was now hitting me, making a frown appear on my face.

I had left home to fly all the way to America because I wanted to find out what happened to my best friend. He's fine and ... Leaving for the military in weeks. Weeks that I'm sure will fly by. My pessimistic side was taking over and I was confused at to why.

After all I was sleeping on my best friends floor in his apartment with him near me and I had no parents or anything to tell me what to do or-

My train of thoughts were cut off when a hand caressed my now wet cheek. I was crying?! I never cry.

My eyes flew open and the source of the gentle touch spoke ''why are you crying?''

I realised it was indeed because I was a tad but homesick, so I repeated that to him. He nodded in understanding.

''Get some sleep, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.'' I sniffled once more and wiped my moist eyes, sitting up.

''Is it just me or are you craving McDonalds too?'' I asked out of the blue and as if on cue his stomach rumbled.

Any previous weariness or tiredness from before was wiped away and replaced with hunger and I think Raven was the same as he got up off the floor. He was in his boxers.

Only his boxers.

I instinctively licked my lips as my eyes trailed down his perfectly sculpted abs and chest noticing a tattoo I never noticed before.

Not that I looked before!

It was on right side of his chest. Small but noticeable. I got up, my eyes trained on the ink embedded into his skin and traced over it.

''You never told me you had a tattoo!'' I said enchanted by it's odd pattern.

He looked oddly pained in the face as if trying to say something but something was holding him back. ''Yeah,'' he practically whispered, looking oddly angelic.

As if he had just snapped out of a trance, his infamous grin reappeared on his face. He put on a pair of plaid pyjama pants and zipped up a hoodie then looked at me expectantly. I stared right back waiting for him to explain why he was wearing clothes now. After a while he sighed ''why aren't you changing?''

What?

I'm confused.

As if reading my thoughts, he elaborated. ''We're going out. Put a jacket and some shoes on,'' he waited a second before adding ''hurry up!''

Bouncing into action, I opened my duffle bag and pulled out a jumper. I was wearing night shorts and a vest right now so I put the jumper on and grabbed my doc martins.

''Now what?'' I asked.

''Off to McDonalds we go!'' He exclaimed way too cheerily for someone awake at midnight.

Sorry this chapter may be slightly boring but my wifi is pretty dodgy so I'd rather publish it than lose it because that's happened before.
