My hand is aching. I'm sitting in my room, waiting for the boys and Marissa to get home.

It was about one when we got back, so Parker and I went back to my room and we talked for a while. We mostly discussed homework and he ended up taking a nap so he could drive home around three.

I let him sleep on my bed and I did some work at my desk. I felt terrible when I had to wake him and practically shoo him out, but it was necessary.

I took a shower to get the nature smell off and changed back into my pajamas.

As I sit, I'm reading for literature, and my phone lights up. Parker...

I take a breath as I can feel my cheeks heating up over his use in emojis... He's definitely flirting with me...

I have to control myself if he can't. I'll do my best to keep myself emotionally unavailable to him, but it's going to get more and more challenging. It seems that no matter what happens or what I do, I can't get him to stay away. He just sticks around.

Maybe he sees me as a friend? We do share a similar, rare ability...

Mid-thought, the door slams shut and I drop my phone from the noise.

"Goddammit, Marissa!" Noah booms through the apartment.

I move silently across the room, so I can crack my door and listen a little. It would be hard to ignore, anyway.

"What do you want from me, Noah?" she yells back at him.

"I want you to understand that we are in no position to have these kids right now," he barks. "As you can see, things are a little problematic."

"Well, yeah, you lied to me about where you were going," she snarls. "I would guess that's what you meant by problematic."

"Don't you sass me." he fires.

"You are their father, Noah!" she thunders. "You need to take responsibility for your actions now!"

"I did not make any mistakes, Marissa," he says, slightly calmer. "I used protection. I did my job. We were both consenting adults at that time."

"Condom or not," she says. "You still have to help me raise them," she chokes. "I can't do this on my own!"

He grunts in frustration. I can hear something shatter. Maybe a glass or a plate?

"Why did you lie?" she asks with a shaky voice.

He sighs deeply. "Marsi, things are so complicated with my family."

"Why did you change your hair and your eyes are blue?" she asks. "They were gray before," she pauses. "Your hair, it was black."

I bite the inside of my cheek.

Oh no...

It's silent for a moment.

"All right," he says. "It's time you learn the truth."
