There is No Happily Ever After

Two days have passed since the "incident" with my captor. In those two days I cooked and cleaned while trying to hide my baby bump. Today was my day to escape. "He" was going out somewhere soon and I would be alone. That meant that I could escape.

I wasn't sure if Jihae and Jieun were looking for me but I assumed that they were because they loved me. I was brought out of my thoughts by the front door slamming shut. He's gone. It's time to escape.

(Meanwhile, with Jihae and Jieun)

The animals went into a frenzy when they woke up to find their owner gone. Especially Jihae and Jieun. Jisoo and Jiyeon were looking for clues as to what happened, while the rabbits tried to piece together what happened.

Jihae looked at Jieun and sighed, "Young Master, I think we should go out and search for her. She may be hurt...or worse..." Jieun stood silently, then spoke, "Let's go." Jiwoo eyed the both of them and stood. "I'm going with you. You two aren't strong enough alone. Jisoo and Jiyeon came into the room and looked at the rabbits. "You three couldn't hold your own out there. We'll be coming too." With that, they headed out.

Jihae's POV

For the first time in years, I felt worried and scared. I haven't felt this way since...No! I can't think of that now. My mate may be hurt or injured. The young master did not eat this morning since he found out she was gone. He seems just as scared as I am. I can't stop these horrible scenarios from drifting through my mind. I hope we find her safe and sound...

I waited 5 minutes until after the roar of the engine faded into silence. I walked to the back door that led to the woods behind this house. I tested the handle and found that it was open. I opened the door and sprinted into the forest before shifting. Just as I finished shifting, I heard yelling from the house but I didn't care turn back. I just ran.

(Back to the boys)

The group of 5 came across a wooded area after hours of walking. Jisoo sniffed the air and his head snapped towards the trees, "She's in there somewhere." He then sniffed the air again. "There's someone else besides her here." With that, they darted into the woods. They were dead silent, carefully looking around the area as they walked. Then, from ahead of them, a bush shook and a small figure emerged. Jieun sprang forward, wrapping his arms around the figure, "(Y/n), we were so worried about you..." He released her and she stepped into the light. Her white coat was dotted with blood from her snout to her tail. She hurried behind a tree and shifted back before walking out.

I sprang into Jihae's arms and hugged him. Jieun, Jihae, and I shared a hug and muttered "I love you" to each other. I saw Jiwoo along with Jisoo and Jiyeon. They all smiled and hugged me.

Then, the bush I had came from shook again. I hid behind Jieun and Jihae. "He" emerged from the bush, chuckling. He looked towards me, "You thought you could get away that easily?" I shrunk back and wrapped my arms around my stomach. I spoke shakily to Jihae, "H-He kidnapped m-me a-and..."

Jieun jumped at "Him" and knocked him to the ground. He threw a punch at "his" face before Jihae intervened, "Evil people like you don't deserve to keep living. You discust me." Jihae grabbed "him" by his collar and punched him in the stomach. "He" pulled out a knife and stabbed Jihae in the side. Jihae fell to the ground clutching his side. Jisoo and Jiyeon grabbed "him" and began to savagely beat "him". I put pressure on Jihae's wound with some material from my skirt but the bleeding wasn't stopping.

Tears started to fall down my face as his hand slowly wiped them away. I looked into his eyes as he spoke, "My Lady, please do not cry. It doesn't suit you." He cupped my cheek with his hand and his thumb brushed across it. I noticed that his breathing had became shallower. I tried everything I could but as I tried the final thing, Jihae spoke in a weak tone, "It's no use, My Lady." I shook my head, crying again. "No! No! You're going to be ok! You're going to be a father!" His hand rested gently rested on my stomach and his eyes traveled to my stomach before going back to my face, "I will always love my child and I will always love you...(Y/n)." With that, his hand went limp and his eyes closed.

I began to violently sob as I hugged his body. Jieun wrapped his arm around my shoulder, faint tears in his eyes. Jisoo, Jiyeon, and Jiwoo bowed their heads silently. "He" had been dead from the savage beating earlier.

Thunder crashed overhead and it began to rain. The storm covered my sobs and screams as I cursed at the world. After my tears had dried, we carried Jihae's body to a meadow we had found. Jisoo and Jiyeon had dug the grave and lowered Jihae's body into it. We covered the grave with flowers and headed home with heavy hearts.

(Narrator's POV)

And so, three months had passed before the she-wolf had accepted reality. She accepted the fact that Jihae was dead. She accepted the fact the her child would grow up with one less father. She accepted the fact that Jihae was never coming back.

She had forgotten about one thing. There is someone who can grant wishes, heal the sick, and even...bring the dead back to life.

But that is a story for another time and place. May we meet again~
