“Dan, can you help me out here darling?” shouted Mrs. Taylor from the room.
From the door, a boy of about 8 years old came in rushing. “What is it mom?”
“I’m trying to put this necklace around my neck but I can’t seem to find the hook for the lock. Can you help me with this please?” his mother kindly said.
The boy climbed the bed and positioned himself at the back of his mom.
“Mom, what will you and dad be doing tonight that you have to leave me with grannies?” he asked.
“We’re having our date night.”
“What’s a date, mom?”
His mother smiled sweetly at him and replied: “It is a time where you and you’re love one can be alone for a few times to catch up with each other, to talk to each other, to show how much they love each other.”
“How about me, I also love you both. Can’t I have a date? How can I show you how much I love you?” he said as he went down the bed and sat beside his mom.
His mom laughed and crouched in front of him. “Someday you’ll know darling. By the time you grow up, you’ll understand what a date means. There are a lot of ways you can show your love. We already know how much you love us and you should know that both me and your dad loves you very, very much. Right now, could you check up on dad if the car’s ready?”
“Okay mom. I can’t wait to grow up! By the time I have a date, will you help me prepare like I helped you today?”
His mom couldn’t help but smile as she saw his sparkling eyes. “Sure. I can’t wait.” She said as she kissed his forehead.
After a while, he and his grandparents waved goodbye to the couple. He rushed inside his room and got a few art materials.
“Grannie, I’ll make a card for mom and dad so they’ll know how much I love them.” He excitingly said.
His grandparents allowed him to work on it on their living room. After finishing the card, he patiently waits for them but soon fell asleep with the card on his hands.
