Jordan was holding his knees and was catching his breath at the side of the road after jogging for at least an hour at the park. He decided to rest for a while before heading back home. He was surveying the park for people he knew when he caught glimpse of a girl on a bike.

She reminds him of his childhood friend back when he was a child.

“Hello. I’m new here and I don’t have any friends. Can we be friends?” a girl asked him. He was playing by himself at their yard when a girl, about his age, approached him.

“Uhm... My mom said I should not talk to strangers but since you’re pretty, I would be happy to be your friend.” He boyishly said with a smile.

As he reminisce his childhood days, he couldn’t help but smile. She was his first love. Every time he tries to remember her face, all he could remember was her angelic eyes. It was the first thing that made him want to talk to her even though he was forbidden by his mom to talk to strangers.

“What’s your name?” she asked.

“I am Nicholas Jordan Taylor. What’s yours?”

“My name is Angelica Takahashi. But my nickname is Aliyah.” She reached for his hand and shakes it as a sign of accepting him as her friend.

He was speechless and was shy for he made his first friend. He was a loner before. He doesn’t want to mingle with other kids until Aliyah came. There was something in her that he finds hard to resist.

He smiled again at his thought. It was really the literal thoughts that came through his mind. He was smiling at how his mind resembles that of a hopeless romantic even though he was still a child. He really does like Aliyah. He knew that. Her grandfather was a Japanese that’s why her surname is Takahashi. Even though she has Japanese blood, she still looks angelic. Her long brownish-black hair and her lips were from her father but her almond eyes were from her mother. What he can’t figure out was if she were his first love.

“Can I call you Nick?” she said.

“Why? They call me Jordan or Dan. Why would you want to call me Nick?” he curiously asked.

“Everyone calls you Dan or Jordan that’s why I want to call you Nick so that when I call you by Nick, you’ll know that it’s me.” she explained.

“Okay. You can call me Nick.”

Up until now, he forbids other people to call him by Nick. She became his childhood best friend up until they moved out. He never had the chance to say goodbye to her. They just suddenly went to States because their petition for immigration was approved. All of their relatives were staying there that’s why his grandparents decided it was best for the three of them to migrate. All he did was to leave her a note and his mother’s necklace.

I’m sorry I haven’t had the time to say goodbye. Keep this necklace safe. When the time comes that we meet again, I would find this necklace on you. You’ll always be my best friend. –Nick
