Forgetting Ashley

Chapter Six

"Ashley?" I heard a voice. I was in the half asleep state so I didn't know if the voice was real or not "Ashley?" I am going to punch this person if he or she is real. "ASHLEY!" My eyes shot open and I woke up. My vision was blurry but I was able to figure out who the person was, it was Raven, my cousin. Wait... What is my cousin doing here?

"Raven, why are you here? And why are you in my room? I was sleeping." My voice was raspy and raw.

"You sound like crap. Hurry up and get dressed, we are going on a play date!" She said throwing a dress on my bed.

"A play date? But we are too old for that kind of stuff, your sixteen for heaven's sake, and I'm eighteen."

“Well… So what. You can bring Damien.” She winked and wiggled her eye brows at me. She is so crazy.

“How do you know about him?” I glared at her.

“Heh. I saw you kissing some guy and I know you hang out with Damien so I put two and two together and came up with you two dating.”

“What did he look like?”

“It was dark, but I was able to see a bit of him. He had blond hair with red and black tips; he was wearing a grey pair of skinny jeans and a black leather jacket. Is that him?”

“No, that’s Seth.”

Her jaw dropped and she was staring at me “What?!?!?! Who in hell’s bells is he? You were kissing a guy that wasn’t Damien?!”

“Seth forced me too. I was walking away and he grabbed my wrist, spun me around, and held my face to his. He is really strong. I would never do that, I care too much about Damien. I mean, we are and aren’t dating.”

“Huh?”

“Never mind. Seth is evil, Raven. If you see him, stay away from him.” I looked at her with concern. I don’t want my fave cousin to be pulled into the evilness.

“I will. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.” She giggled and we left for Damien’s.

We got to Damien’s house in good time. I went to knock on the door when it opened up and Damien was literally throwing Seth out. He had him by the collar of his shirt and his belt.

“Damien!” I screamed when I saw him.

“Ashley!” He hugged me “He told me what he did to you. I’m so sorry.” He kissed my forehead and hugged me tightly.

“Nice to see the love birds are back together.” Seth said readjusting his shirt. He looked around and homed in on Raven. “Well, well, well, who is this young lady?”

She looked at him all bored like “I’m way out of your league.” She said walking past him and over to me. When she got to me, we high-fived.

Seth looked flabbergasted. His eyes were big and he didn’t seem too happy.

Seth looked at me, then at Raven, and last at Damien. I saw Damien give him the “GTFO or else I’ll kill you” look.

Seth shrugged and began to walk away slowly. Raven picked up a rock and threw it at him. It hit him right in the back of the head. Heh. Good.

“I hope I never see him again. From a far he looks cool, but up close he looks like a twat. And he is a jerk.” Man I love British accents, it adds so much more. I also love that if Raven’s mom had heard her say that, Raven would have been slapped and flown back to the British Bronx where she came from.

“Hey little Rave! How are you?” Damien said once Seth had gotten out of sight.

She hugged him “Pretty good.”

“Why are you out here? You normally come out in the middle of the summer.”

“Ashley’s mum called my mum and told her about the accident. My mum packed me up and shipped me out here!”

“Wait, your mom isn’t here, with you?”

“Nah, she has work. It’s just me for the first half of the summer!”

“NO WAY! THAT IS SO AWESOME! I GET TO SPEND HALF OF SUMMER WITH MY BEST COUSIN! WOOOOOO HOOOO!”

She laughed and Damien did too! OhMyGosh! Normally she only stays a week half way through the summer.

“Yay! I get to see my girlfriend’s fave cousin for half the summer!”

“Mine, Damien. Grrrrrrrr.” I growled and hovered over Raven like a dragon would his jewels.

“Fine, but we all have to hang out sometime. All five of us.”

“Five?” Raven said.

“Yah, Nils, Jess, you, Ashley and I. The whole gang.” Damien said.

I smiled and watched as Raven and Damien caught up with each other. I heard them mention Talia a few times. I know I’m really Talia but I’m trying my hardest to be Ashley.

Four days ago I had my sister, and in a matter of seconds her life was taken away from me. I wonder if Raven misses her.
