After Jeremy had cried himself dry and fallen asleep, I left his room. I figured we could talk after he was less shaken up about whatever happened. I was kind of scared because he was apologizing, which only led me to believe it had to do with me.

After an hour of watching Awkward in the living room, I figured I'd call Luke just to explain what was going on. And the fact I was bored out of my mind. It took him four rings to pick up, and he sounded annoyed as he barked a "hello" into the phone.

"Hello to you, too, Mr Grumpy Pants," I chuckled. "What's wrong?"

"Our plan worked," he growled. "Ashton's all pissy and is currently upstairs trashing my room."

"You're not going to stop him?" I quizzed.

He sighed, "What's the point? We'll just end up fighting and that's way worse. But where did you go earlier? Is everything alright?"

"That's actually why I called. Jeremy was freaking out in his room. He was crying and saying 'I'm sorry' over and over and I don't know why. I'm worried about him, Luke."

The phone seemed to be flying through the air or something. The voice that went into my ear didn't belong to Luke at all. It was a girl's voice, "Bridgette, it's Mali-Koa. You need to get out now."

I stood from the couch, "What?"

"Trust me, get out of that house. What Jeremy needs right now is to be alone."

"Do you know what happened?" Mali went silent. "Mali-Koa, he's my brother! You tell me right now!"

"I can't!" she yelled, exasperated. "It's not my secret."

I groaned, running my free hand through my hair, "I'm sick of everyone saying that! Stop keeping secrets and just tell me!"

"Wait for him to tell you," Mali told me. "He will, I know he will. But you have to leave, Bridgette, please. We can talk over at Luke's place."

I huffed, "Fine. Whatever."

I hung up and went to slip on my shoes. I felt bad just ditching my brother, but apparently I wasn't allowed to be there anymore. What, was someone going to kill me or something?

I walked into Luke's house and everyone seemed to be waiting for me in the entryway. Mali visibly let out a breath, "Thank you, Jesus."

"What?" I questioned, referring to why I needed to get out of the house.

"You weren't safe there," she stated, "and it's best if you're not left alone with Ashton for the next couple days."

"Why? Because of his little hissy fit? I think I-"

"It's more than that," she told me, shaking her head, "it just sucks I can't tell you what."

Calum lounged back in his chair. For once, he wasn't writing down spells. He was actually having a conversation with me during lunch where he looked at me. Like, actually looked at me and was engaged. The only problem was he kept avoiding my questions about the other night. I just wanted to know what was up with my brother and why I couldn't see Ashton by myself. Ashton didn't remember me anyway so I didn't see the big deal.

"You know what you need?" Calum asked, standing up with his bag.

I sighed, knowing this meant we were ditching again, "To make it to last block for once?"

He got up and led me out of the lunch room anyway, mumbling something I couldn't hear very well. All I caught was, "live that long."
