Chapter 17

The drive to his house felt so long. I couldn’t stand still my legs kept shaking.

“How long does this last Mason” I asked him upset

“For a few hours” he said with a smile on his face

“Ugh, damn it” I said to myself.

I knew Mason found this funny, and for that I got even more upset. I wanted to run the rest of the way to his place. Trust me I had the energy for it but I wanted to be next to him all night. I got a text from Derek saying:

“I got hold of the security tape from the Katwalk. I need you to come to my place”

“Ok” I wrote back to him. I really didn’t want to but the less he knows about vampires the better for me

I told Mason to take me to Derek’s place; he gave me a look of concern.

“What? He wants to show me something” I told him a little with attitude

It must have come from his blood still. Once we got to his place I notice that Derek was depressed and confuse.

“Why is he here? I thought you were coming alone” he looked very anger

“I didn’t tell him anything I swear Derek, you could trust him” I told him

“He could wait outside” Derek said this louder

“There is no need to talk to her like that” Mason said as he stepped In front of me.  “I’ll wait right here if you don’t mind”

“Fine but whatever you hear here stays with us, do you understand me?” Derek said as he got close to Mason’s face.

Derek put in the video from the basement of that night. There was no audio so we didn’t hear it but we saw it. It looked like she was talking to someone, but we didn’t know who. She must have known the person because she was talking to them for a while, it was very hard to tell who that person was, and they stayed in the shadow. Next thing you saw was her turn and waving to the person and then they came up behind her and cut her throat. This person was so heartless and so cold, they didn’t hesitate to do it, and I had to turn away.

“Why did she go down?” I ask out loud

“No one will know” Derek said to me

I got up and put my hands into fits I was so angry and so hurt that I didn’t even feel my nails cutting me.

“Babe your bleeding” Mason told me

“Oh” was the only thing I could say

As I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, I had no cuts I just has little red marks. How was that even possible I thought to myself? But then I remembered Mason blood makes me heal fast. When I walked out the bathroom Derek was re-watching the tape and stopping it to see a better picture of the person who killed Emily.

“Derek stop, that’s not healthy for you” I told him while grabbing the remote

“Your right” he said

“Ok, well I’m going to go now, I need to sleep and so do you” I told him

“Ok bye, be safe Chloe” he told me

“You too Derek, bye” I said

As I walked out Mason was holding my hand, he just knew how to comfort me without me saying anything. His embrace clamed me down and made my pain and anger melt away. I really don’t know what I would have done if he wasn’t here with me right now. But I didn’t know what to do, I just wanted to shower and head to bed.

As we got to his house, I went straight to the shower and let the water run down my body. Emily didn’t know Bernadette, so who was she talking to in the basement? My thoughts were disturbed by a knock at the door.

“Chloe, do you need anything from your apartment?” Mason asked me

“Crap, I need everything I didn’t grab anything” I told him

“Ok, I’ll be back in five to ten minutes love” He told me

“But how do you know what to bring me?” I told him. But I didn’t get any respond from him.

When I was done with my shower I had nothing to wear so I had to put on one of his shirt. I looked so short with it on, it was almost by my knees and coming off of one shoulder. Then I heard something behind me

“Well, don’t you look cute with my shirt on” Mason said coming in the room

“Damn it Mason you scared me” I told him

“Sorry, I got everything you need” he told me as he handed me a suitcase

“Thanks, but how did you know what to get? I mean I have everything here” I told him as I went through the suitcase.

“I have my ways, plus I know you by know sweetie” he told me as he kisses my forehead

I put the suitcase to one side and lied down on the bed, I told Mason to be at

my side I didn’t want to sleep alone tonight. He began running his fingers through my hair which made me go straight to sleep.
