Chapter 20

Mason

When I went to pick up Chloe I could feel her heart beating fast and was scared. I drove as fast as I could to know what was going on with her, I can't stand it when she's in danger and I am nowhere near her to protect her. As I went inside she was coming upstairs from the basement, I saw that she was alright and it was Daniel who frighten her. There's something about him I do not trust, but I smile when he passes me after all that is Chloe's boss.

"Are you ready to go home?" I asked Chloe

"Yeah" she told me

As she was getting ready to head out, I received a text massage from a very old friend

"Meet me at my house, we have much to discuss about you and I"

I knew this meant no good; I had to act like nothing was wrong with me so I wouldn't worry Chloe. When we got into the car I began to head to Stephen's house. Chloe notice that we weren't going home and got annoyed, I knew she would. But I needed to know what he wanted with me, in the pass he would use me to do his dirty work but I had no chose but to do it.

When I escaped from Bernadette, Stephen took me like his son. He taught me how to hunt and how to cover my track when I drank too much blood from someone. He saved my life when I was at my lowest; he took me and showed me a new way of living with my vampire ways. For me it was like a re-birth without him I wouldn't be alive, so in time I grew to call him father.

Chloe began to ask me where we were going, I had to tell her a friend, but really it was my father I was going to. I would tell her everything once we got home, she was much too tired. Once we got to his house I knew she felt uneasy as we go in, but I told her to wait in the car but knowing her she didn't. I held her hand until we went in. Stephen greeted us and asked if she would wait in the living room. She gave me a sharp stair; I knew she'd get me for leaving her alone.

Once we went into his office he made sure that she couldn't hear what we were going to discuss.

"Why did you bring her?" Stephen asked me upset

"I didn't think it was such a big deal, she knows about me and Bernadette is after her" I told him leaning in

"I know that Bernadette is trying to kill her, that bitch came by today and told me you found a human pet who looks just like your Olivia." He said forcefully

"What? How does she know about you? I made sure there were no traces to you. What else did she say?" I asked him mad

"She's threatening to kill me and her if I don't convince you to be with her again. She cannot hurt me I am much older than she is, but for your human pet she can" he said pointing to the door.

"What do you suggest I do? Leave the only woman I love for her? No I rather die than be with her." I told him

"Come child, no need to anger yourself over this. But I have to say she is a beauty and I wouldn't mind having a taste of her" he said smiling

"Don't you dare, she is mine and I am not going to lose her" I said loudly

"You dare to raise your voice in my house boy, I could crush you in a blink of an eye, but I have much for love you, but don't you cross your boundaries" he said slowly but the threat was very clear

"Sorry, I didn't mean to" I said while looking down

"Go, but be warned Mason, Bernadette won't stop at anything to get her way" he said

As I walked out of the room Chloe was staring at some pictures of Stephen and I that brought back so many memories.

"Are you ready to leave love?" I asked her

"Yes" she said

As we were walking out Stephan was staring at us, but more at Chloe than me. He must be seeing how much Chloe looks like Olivia. Once we got home Chloe took a shower and I went to the living room to read a book, but for some reason I couldn't focus on the words on the page. Chloe came in and sat on my lap I wanted to tell her about my ways, on how I use to kill innocent people when I was with Bernadette, but was saved with Stephan. I had to tell her.

"I've killed people, innocent people love. I wish I haven't." I told her. But she stayed quite waiting for me to tell more

"Ok" she said

"When Bernadette wanted a young girl to feed on she called upon me to lure them in, I hated doing it she would torture them. The screaming and the begging for them to live still haunt me to this day. She would make me watch then after she would want to make love with me while the bodies were still in the room dead. That's only half of it, but once Stephan found me he changed that and we only hunted men who didn't have a family to go to. But I'm not the same person I was before, I have changed love" I told her while holding her hand

She just sat there without saying anything to me; I didn't know what she was thinking so I stared at her waiting for her to say something to me.
