❧ Chapter 6 ❧
Yoongi opened his eyes with a groan. All his body ached fiercely. His head and ears pulsated heavily. His entire face was covered by a thick layer of dust from the explosion. The dirty burnt air in the room scratched his throat and lungs. He coughed several times trying to clean his sore throat and looked around disoriented. Little could be seen in the dim light of the premises.
"Damn, what happened to me" he thought while trying to recollect his memories about the vampires chasing him and the occurrences after that. Yes, the vampires, the metal rusty door that saved him, him blowing up the place, that's right. Great idea you moron!" The memories shot through his head as he scanned the place hastily. From the little he could see there was no movement in sight. "I have to get out of here!" He tried to rise from the ground. A sharp blinding pain cut through his right leg and spread immediately through his entire body. He fell back with a painful cry and gritted his teeth waiting the pain to disperse a little.
"Hell, that hurts a lot!" He lifted his head and tried to check his injury. What he saw on the vague light made his heart jump. His leg was buried under a large cement segment that had been dislodged by the explosion. The thing looked big and heavy and very effectively restricted him from moving away or getting up from his position. He tried once again to pull himself from under the wreckage but the pain returned with full power and he once again muffled a painful moan. All the curses and insults that he knew popped one after the other in his head mainly pointed at him and his stupid impulsive to get inside the sewers in the first place and from time to time addressed at the heavy boulder trapping him there and "how dare it!"
"No way out of here" the thought came unwelcome but clear as day. There was no way out for him. "I've done it this time. Well done, you famous and experienced vampire hunter, fell for the oldest trick of all. How can I be so stupid?" He was feeling angry with himself but also fear and desperation clawed their way inside him. What he could easily calculate was that there was hardly any chance for survival. The explosion had blocked the door and probably crumbled part of the corridor behind him. How can anyone dig all the way through here? He also was very aware of the limited life force and scarce equipment the police had, the task of someone reaching him seemed impossible. If only there were some volunteers. But the people these days were very reluctant to stick their noses in a place with vampire activity. Even more a place where there were scattered parts from vampire bodies everywhere. The threat of catching the virus was enough to repel all possible help from the civil population.
Suga closed his eyes for a minute, trying to control the panic building inside him and at the same deaden the pain pulsating mercilessly through him. He was tough and experienced enough not to surrender to the degrading emotions floating through his brain but the realization that this time he was going to die in this dusty cellar was hard to swallow.
He looked around one more time. Where was his gun? His backpack? There was some food and water inside it. And he was so thirsty. His lips were cracked, his throat sore from thirst. He tried to lick them but there was no use because his tongue was swollen and dry inside his mouth. The backpack was nowhere to be seen, probably buried under the concrete debris.
"It's actually better that way. I'll have less time to suffer before the end." The he thought was bitter and harsh. Almost laughed at the thought. Then he saw it. The gun. It was close, within his reach, loaded and ready to use. He took it in his hand and started to examine it closely.
