Chapter 8

Matt's POV-

I kept hearing voices all around me. Where was I? How did I get here? The last thing I remember was getting in an ambulance and Abigail calling out my name. I still remember all of the things she whispered to me. I tried to give her a sign that I was listening and that I love her but I couldn't.

I wonder how she's doing. I need to see her beautiful smile. But I can't. I'm in such a deep sleep I can't open my eyes or move. This is the worst feeling ever. I need to try harder for Abigail. I need to hold her in my arms to keep her safe from all harm. But how can I do that when I'm not even awake?

I hear the door opening and closing every so often. I keep hearing the doctors say I have a small chance of waking up. What do they mean by that?

I have so many questions and thoughts running through my mind. I forget the horrible feeling that runs through my entire body, that suddenly forces me to open my eyes.

I'm soon face to face with Abigail who has tears running down her cheeks. Every time I feel closer to her I find myself reaching farther and farther.

Abigail's POV-

I look up and my eyes are instantly met with a pair of beautiful hazel eyes. Matt's.

"Matthew?"

"You know I love it when you call me that."

"That's your name silly what else would I call you?"

"Mine?" A smile appears on his face.

I can't help but blush and smile back at him. "How are you?"

"I'm doing fine. My head hurts a lot. You?" He grabs hold of my hand and gives me a reassuring squeeze.

"I'm fine. I'm just glad your awake, you almost gave me a heart attack you know?"

"I might have given myself one. But I would never forgive myself if I were ever to loose you." A tear escapes his eyes and I wipe them away with my thumb and cup his cheek.

"Why don't you get some rest? We'll have time to catch up soon."

Actually we won't. If I really am leaving in a week with Shawn to live with my dad in Canada. I won't even get a chance to say goodbye to the one person I truly love.

"Yeah I'm getting a horrible headache right now."

"Alright, well I'm gonna leave in a little bit and I'll be back in the morning." His smile starts to fade. He nods and puts his head down. I lay down my head on his chest and his arm wraps around my shoulders.

"Sorry to interrupt, Abigail mom is here to pick us up." Shawn walks in with a big teddy bear and some balloons that say, "we love you!"

"These are for you. Love you man." He hands everything to Matt and they do their handshake and end it with a bro hug.

Nash and Cameron each walk in with flowers and teddy bears. Cameron walks up to me and hands me a teddy bear behind my back.

"What's this for?" I whisper over to Cameron.

"You didn't have time to get Matt something, so I went ahead and got him something for you to give to him." He hands Matt his presents from him and soon it's my turn.

"This is amazing thanks guys. I love all of you." We all smile and soon Shawn and I have to leave.

"We have to go Abby." Shawn says and hugs Matt before going to the door.

"Will you come tomorrow morning? I really want to talk to you about something." I nod and give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Of course I am. I'm not leaving my best friend here alone. I'll see you tomorrow morning, so don't stay up waiting for me okay?"
