"Aunt Lyn's POV"

"Your dad's gonna kill me now." I sighed.

I was talking to Beam one morning. He was looking at me with question all over his face.

" Beam, look at you. Less than a month under my care and you have lost some weight already. And why do you look so pale."

He took the instant noodles that we were having for lunch. And started eating some more. He did not want me to worry.

"Beam. Don't force yourself if you dont like the food. You might just throw up."

"Haaa!! How about I cook later. What do you want for dinner?" I asked.

"I miss eating vegetable omelet, vegetable springrolls and mushroom and pumpkin soup." He answered easily without even thinking.

I scratched my head.
"Uhhh... why dont we have fried eggs for dinner." What the hell did I just said.

I dont even know how to cook for crying out loud

I dont even know how to cook for crying out loud. Ever since I became independent, I eat fastfood and microwavable ready-made dishes. My stove is still brand new because I never used it. I tried cooking rice one time, and it end up like a pasty porridge. I tried frying hotdogs and I almost burn the entire kitchen.

Flashback

"Lyn. Beam is not a picky eater. He eats anything. But he eats best when served with anything with vegetables. You can cook right?" Asked my brother before they left for States.

"Stupid brother, you worry so much."
I told him that I'll do my best, but I did not promise him anything.

"Beam sleeps in a pile of blanket. He easily gets cold at night. Make sure he brushes his teeth before going to bed."

" Most importantly, Beam doesn't know how to say No. Have the initiative to ask if you think he does not like something."

End of flash back

I don't know how to be a mother. One moment I was single, now I have an 8 year old kid. If I will not do something, especially with the food, he will eventually get sick.

I had a great idea. Maybe I can get someone to cook Beam's favorite food regularly. But that will cut my budget. Yes, my brother did left me enough money for Beam's expenses, but I did not want to use it. It's my fault in the first place, for being a useless adult.

"Beam. Will you be ok if aunt will no longer be able to accompany you going back home from school?" He looks puzzled but still nods.

"I will have extra tutoring jobs after school from now on." I felt sad. But I have to do it in order for Beam to enjoy his meals.

In order to pay for a cook who will make delicious home made dishes, I took part time job as tutor to two students.
