She was very young, still on her early 30s. Mary was very lovely and always blooming. She had been a great wife to my stupid brother Bryan, for 10 years and mother to my cute nephew, Beam. I know very much of their love story since they were childhood sweethearts.
"How's my nephew doing?" I asked on the phone.
"We already told Beam what he needs to now. Its enough that Beam knows his mother is sick and soon will be okay after the treatment." brother's voice was stern.
I felt sorry for Beam for not knowing the seriousness of her mother's medical condition. But what can I do? I'm not in the position to divulge such information to the kid.
"When do you plan to leave the country? And how long do you plan to stay there?" I asked.
"It's 10 days from now and we are not yet sure to how long the treatment course will be. Still depends on the doctors.. E-err.." my brother is trying to say something.

"We cannot take Beam with us. Mary only agreed with the treatment if our son will not come. The chemotheraphy is very deteriorating and she does not want our son to see her suffering throughout the process."
"Your gonna leave Beam to me." I went straight to what he is pointing in this conversation.
"Brother, I have nothing against it. You are the parents. You know better than I do. I just hope that your desiscion will not crush Beam's heart even more."
He did not answer after that. He must have realized my point. Even if Beam is young, he is still part of the family. If they have to go through such traumatic experience. They should go through it as a family.
