I rushed across the ragged carpet to open all of my windows. My apartment had become very humid and it was hard to breathe. I didn't want to stay here any longer than I had to, I went across the hall to Ms. Cronin's house to drop off the sponges. When she opened the door she was holding a plate of food! "I figured you might be hungry after the sink incident." On the plate was a steak with gravy and mashed potatoes. On a separate plate was a slice of strawberry chocolate cake. "Thank you!" I said, happiness swelling up inside me. " Would you eat with me though I get a little lonely," she said looking down at the floor like she was embarrassed. "of course I will eat with you" I walked into her kitchen following the smell of freshly baked pie. Her kitchen was filled with dishes and food. A black and white cat sauntered into the room. "oh that's just my cat Sophie" Ms. Cronin said staring at the cat lovingly. Sophie came over and rubbed up against my legs purring. "Aw she likes you' Ms. Cronin said. We went to sit down at the table, and we started on the steaks. The first bite I took tasted so good! I was so hungry from the lack of breakfast and lunch that I wolfed down two servings and three pieces of pie. After that, we sat in her living room playing with Sophie. I looked at the clock and saw it was 8:00. "oh gosh I gotta go, I still have to unpack!" "Okay dearie I'll see you tomorrow," Ms.Cronin said while petting Sophie. I rushed out of the apartment back to 2B and started to unpack my stuff. I put everything away and realized that I forgot to bring toothpaste and extra socks. I also didn't have any pajamas which meant I had to go shopping in the morning. Oh well, I thought as I slipped into the new bed covers, its only a few things plus I need to get food anyway. I stared at the cracks in the ceiling until I fell asleep.
