Emily watched Hazel. Hazel was way too okay with this. Emily's world had just been turned upside down. Werewolves are real and Hazel had one for a boyfriend! Hazel was currently softly snoring and drooling on River. Her bodyguard had fallen asleep! Emily was defenseless with two werewolves!
"I'm not going to hurt you." Chris looked down at Emily.
Emily swallowed hard,"I didn't think you would."
"It's pointless to lie, I can hear your heart. It's beating really fast." Chris stared Emily in the eyes.
"You can put me down now. Hazel is asleep and can't fuss." Emily glanced at Hazel wondering if she could out run them.
"It's okay. I don't mind carrying you." Chris shrugged.
"But.." Emily started.
"Please, don't argue." River asked.
"Fine." Emily grumbled.
The rest of the walk was spent in silence. Hazel started to stir and Emily hoped she would wake up.
Hazel's eyes fluttered open and she got excited when she saw the truck.
"HOME!" Hazel moved so suddenly that River lost his grip.
Hazel raced to the truck and jumped in.
"Don't leave me!" Emily shouted.
"Get in!" Hazel yelled.
Chris set Emily in the truck.
"You're going to follow me to my pack house." River told Hazel.
"Um, I'm going back to my house." Hazel told him sternly.
"I'll send someone to get your stuff." River assured her.
"Look, I'm not ready to move into your pack house yet. I need to focus on school right now. This is my last year in highschool and it really counts. I can't do that when you are trying to mate me." Hazel made weird hand gestures.
"I'm not going to complete the bond until your ready." River frowned.
"Then, don't make me live in the pack house with you." Hazel argued.
"That's different!" River growled.
"Look, I can take care of myself. I'll see you tomorrow." Hazel drove off.
"Are you okay?" Emily asked.
"Me? I'm awesome. What about you?" Hazel was concerned about her friend.
"I'm okay, not every day you find out werewolves are real." Emily looked out of the window.
"I think you have a werewolf mate too." Hazel nodded agreeing with herself.
"What!?" Emily screamed.
"Emily, you have done enough screaming for today. The best friend always ends up having a werewolf or vampire mate. I don't see you with a vampire. You love garlic too much." Hazel drummed her fingers against the steering wheel.
"You're crazy." Emily stated.
"It'll happen, be on guard one of us may get kidnapped in the near future." Hazel had this determined look on her face.
"You sound like you have this all planned out." Emily stared at her.
"Look, ever since I was six I've been preparing for my werewolf mate. I know, every cliche and plot line. I'm ready! Pack wars, I got you. Cold cruel alpha, I know how to deal with it. Kidnapping, I'll have it out of the way before breakfast. Vampires? Please, just blood suckers. Witches, now I'm still trying to figure that one out." Hazel admitted.
Emily stared at her friend in shock, "I've never seen this side of you before." She whispered.
Hazel just smiled, she knew that the countless hours of reading and training would pay off one day.
Emily and Hazel crashed hard that night and the next morning Hazel had to drag Emily out of bed. School passed by very fast and before they knew it, it was lunch time.
"They have sloppy joes again?" Hazel asked looking disgusted.
"Yup! Pulled pork too! They also have pork roast." Emily said happily.
"What is with all the pork?" Jake asked.
"I don't know, maybe a deal on pork?" Emily shrugged.
"Hey, have you guys noticed that the group of kids that normally hang out by the gym haven't been there the last few days?" Hazel asked.
"Maybe, they got their lunches switched or dropped out. I mean they were bad students who did drugs. They didn't care about school. It's not uncommon." Jake ate his lunch.
"Yeah, but they kinda slowly stopped coming." Hazel stared at the gym.
"That's how it normally goes." Emily pointed out.
"But, it's been happening a lot this year." Hazel looked at them both.
"They were seniors too. It happens, they think that they can slack off just because it's senior year." Jake shrugged it off.
"Hazel has a boyfriend!" Emily suddenly shouted.
"What!? Since, when!?" Jake demanded.
"Since, yesterday." Hazel blushed slightly.
"What's this? Hazel blushing!? He must be something special. Why didn't you tell me!? Who is he?" Jake demanded.
"It only happened yesterday. It's River." Hazel played with her lunch bag strap.
"Dang girl, you move fast." Jake teased.
"Stop!" Hazel playfully punched him.
The bell rung ending their conversation.
After, school Hazel was lounging on the couch munching on chips.
Emily walked in giving her an odd look.
"What?" Hazel asked.
"Nothing, I thought you would be with your mate." Emily sounded curious.
"That's something that the books got wrong. I don't need to be attached to his hip 24/7." Hazel waved her hands around in the air.
"Yet." Emily gave her a knowing look.
"Don't worry hun, we'll find your mate." Hazel patted Emily's shoulder.
"I'm not looking for a mate!" Emily rolled her eyes.
"No one, except Wattpaders look for their mate." Hazel pointed out.
"That's it, I'm banning you from Wattpad." Emily said firmly.
"You can't do that" I have no other way to train to be Luna!" Hazel cried.
"Referring to yourself as Luna is why I'm banning you." Emily gave her the look of a mother fussing at her kid.
"Well, I am Luna. River is going to introduce me to the pack tommorow and you are my plus one." Hazel said proudly.
"More werewolves? No, I'm good." Emily sighed. I'm
"You have to come!" Hazel pleaded.
"Fine, but only because I love you." Emily surrendered.
"Yay!" Hazel cheered.
