"Before I tell you were we came from you should probably know something about the code first." Nathan said. "Lilith I'll let you explain since you are more educated on the subject."

Lilith nodded. "A while ago, about 6 months after the code was first created the code was created some of the creators had started to wonder what would happen if they inserted the chips they put in the robots into humans." She said. "They decided to test this theory on young children no older that two years of age." Her face showed no emotion.

"What?" Evan said. "Why?"

"Because" Lilith said. "They wanted to try to give humans the special ability's in society that robots have."

"But why children?" Jackson asked.

"Because then the creators could see how the children adapt to the chip." She said. "Most of society was okay with this experiment because it wasn't hurting the children in any way."

"Most of society?" I ask. "What about the rest?"

"The rest was unsure." Lilith explained. "Some of the experiments were... Different."

"Different in what way?" Evan asked.

"They gave some of the children advanced chips, that had power that seemed like sorcery. I am a result of one." she said.

"What?" I say.

"I can make everyone I touch see their worst fear." She said.

"But you've been holding hands with Nathan this whole time." I say.

"Yes because somehow he is immune to it." Lilith explained. "I don't know how."

"Awww" I said "You guys are made for each other."

Lilith smiled. "Yeah. I guess we are"

"Anyway." She said. "Back to the story. A lot of people seemed to dislike this super human idea and thought that these children should live normal lives." She looked down "So an organization called The Cold Eyes were formed. It was the first form of rebellion against the code who are now known simply as rogues. They stormed the asylum and took back every piece of information and proof that the children were there in the first place. Including you, Cora and you as well Jackson" Her eyes welled up with tears. "But they left me."

Nathan thread his arm around her waist and held her tighter.

"So how are you here now?" Jackson asked.

"I broke her out. "He said. "I was sent into the asylum to test her ability but I found it cruel to keep a human being in there and her power didn't work on me so I came back and broke her out. We lived as rogues for months but had a run in with some Code guards the other day and got split up, then we met you guys"

"oh." I say.

"Wait, You said that Cora and I have chips too right?" Jackson said. "What can we do?"

"I don't know what you can do but I know you both have one." Lilith said.

We stopped at a coffee shop for breakfast.

"Cora?" Evan said. "Why are you wearing Jackson's hoodie?"

I felt my face heat up. Shit, I thought. I never gave it back. "uuummmm" I say.

"She was cold" Jackson said. "So I did the gentlemanly thing to do and gave her my sweater."

I sighed with relief.  "Yeah" I said "I was cold."

We chattered about something else for a while wondering what people would think if we were caught talking ill of the code. We finish our croissants and hit the rode again.
