Evan and I sat down.

"Now," My mom said, "where did you really get this information?"

"The library" I told her.

"Lies!" she said harshly, "all the records of the rioting in the rebellion were burned!" her voice was bitter and angry. "so let me ask you again, Were. Did. You. Hear. This. Information!"

I had never heard my mom speak to me or my brother like this before and it scared me. Why doesn't she want us to know this? I thought.  I didn't want to expose Nathan and Lilith for being rogues and I wouldn't, no matter what my parents asked me I wouldn't bring them into this but I had a feeling Evan wouldn't hesitate to tell the truth to our parents. But to my surprise, he didn't

"What rebellion?" he asked as if he had no idea what they were talking about. My mother leaned back in her chair. "It was just something that was going on at school. " My brother lied, "People were accusing other people of having chips, Whatever that means" I was thoroughly shocked at Evan's Lying  I knew he was a good liar but I had no idea he was THIS good. it made me wonder how much I really knew about my older brother.

My mother just nodded and exchanged relived looks with my dad. Wow, I thought, she really  didn't want us to know that.

They both left the room and I heard my mother tell my father that she was going to have a word with the principle of of our school. Evan and I were alone in the kitchen.

"Wow," he said, "She really didn't want us to know about that rebellion. This proves that Nathan and Lilith weren't lying." He started to pace around the kitchen, his blue eyes lost in thought "But the thing is...Why do they want to keep it from us?"

This is why I loved ,y brother, he was always curious. It drives the girls at school crazy, I can see why Lia likes him, if  she likes him that is. Evan didn't look like he was going to say anything else so I left and went upstairs to my room. I felt my phone buzz in my back pocket. It was aa text from Lia. I unlocked my phone and read it:

Lia: Cora... you and your brother were with Jackson last night right?

Me: Yeah... We were in the woods, why?

Lia: When was the last time you saw him?

Me: Around 10:00 when he left us at our house.

Lia: You need  to get over to my house. NOW!

Me: Why? What's wrong?

Lia: It's Jackson, he just turned up at my house, and he's hurt.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I turn throw my phone down on my bed and run into the kitchen grabbing Evan mid-stride pulling him behind me. I run outside dragging my brother behind me.

"Woah, Cora! Where are we going?" He asked.

"Lia's house!" I yell to him, not stopping or slowing my pace.

"Oh, are you setting us up on our first date already? If I would have known I would have got flowers. Daisies of course, not too romantic, but classy. I-" He said but I cut him off.

"No, Jackson's there and he's injured!" I tell him urgently.

"Wha-?" he starts.

"Just come on!" I cut him off again.

Evan quickens his pace beside me and I let go of his wrist and we run faster. Evan's expression was alarmed now.

When we finally got to Lia's house she quickly ushered us inside and took us towards her living room sofa where Jackson lay there, his shirt, was soaked in blood. Evan and I ran to kneel beside him and with Evan being the medical guru in the family he quickly assessed Jackson's body before asking Lia if she had any bandages.

"Yea" she said, "My family has a first aid kit in the garage."

"Great, I'll come with you." He said giving me a mischievous smile. I roll my eyes and turn back to Jackson.

"Cora..." Jackson groaned. "You just can't seem to keep your self away form me can you?" He gave me a half smile.

"Well, Sometimes the princess has to save the prince instead of the other way around." I say returning his smile.

"So i'm your prince now?" he said. "I see you're still wearing my hoodie, so you must be thinking of me, sweetheart." His smile widened.

"Shut up." I tell him.

"Ow, shit." He winced, "This hurts like hell"

I searched around for something to temporarily bind his wound with. I found nothing so I pulled off Jackson's hoodie his sent flooding my senses temporarily as I pulled it off.

"Lift up your shirt," I tell him, "and don't make any sarcastic comments"

He smiled, but kept his mouth shut as he peeled his blood soaked shirt away from his body revealing his perfectly toned torso with the acception of a massive cut across his stomach. Woah, how often did this guy work out?  I thought.

"Hey, I'm kind of bleeding to death here, it would be nice if you would stop swooning and help." Jackson said. Causing me to realize that I was staring. I sighed.

"I told you to be quiet." I told him playfully as I carefully wrapped the hoodie around his body.

"Sorry can't help it, Ouch" he said, wincing, "that hurt."

"Sorry" I apologized loosening up the makeshift bind.

"Where the heck are Lia and Evan?" I muttered.

"Probably making out in the garage." Jackson said. I punched him in the arm for that comment.

"Ow" he said, "Don't hurt the already injured! I was kidding!" I rolled my eyes.

"What happend to you anyway?" I asked.

"It's a long story" he replied.

"I can keep up." I smiled.
