I followed Conner to the back. He assigned me a locker and wrote my name with chalk on the small black square.

The employees all have been pretty nice. Everyone was the same age as me, which was pretty neat. Alyssia, she was really sarcastic and sassy which reminded me of myself. Jackson, a little Cocky but was still chill, and then Connor, who I found was only a year and four months older than myself. He was just an all around nice, funny guy.

They had me training on register and making the coffee. They had a system in pairs, one works register, other makes the coffee. Currently I was making the coffee with Jackson. I poured the black coffee in the small cardboard cup. Put the lid on, a warmer, and hit the bell 'Order 113 up' I turned around and placed the cup on the counter, I looked up and my eyes met with a pair of icy blues looking right back at me. "Hey Jess." I let go of his cup, our fingers dragging across one another's. "Lip, what are you doing here!?" I was beyond relieved to see him to be honest. "I came to get you for lunch" "I could've walked across the street myself" I poked his shoulder leaning on the counter "when are you off?" He asks looking at the clock above my head on the wall. Now that he asks I never did ask Connor. "Let me check. I never asked" he moved to the side and I walked to the back office. Connor's office was wide open, I saw him close to the wall looking into a mirror.

I peaked inside and knocked anyway "Connor?" I whispered. He turned around. His one eye was completely bloodshot and watering "Jessica...could you...there's something in my eye and I can't seem to find whatever it is..I've already taken my contact out. But there's still something..." I walked in and took off my visor setting it on his desk. I moved closer and tried to find whatever it was he was talking about but the height difference was not working. "Here come over here.." I grabbed his arm and guided him to his desk, he put his butt on the ledge and faced the light. I moved between his legs, I pried his eye open carefully and began to look around. "Connor I don't see any-..wait" there was something poking from underneath his eyelid. I lifted it up, an eyelash. I pulled it out and smiled in victory.

"This was causing you all that pain" I laughed holding up the lash between my fingers. He has rather long lashes so I can imagine why he felt discomfort. "Ugh thank you sooo much Jess" he brought his hands down on my hips. We stared at each other for a long moment, "Make a wish" I said, trying to cut the tension. He closed his eyes and blew the eyelash away. His eyes fluttered back open, looking at my face. I looked down at the lack of distance we had, I'm standing between his legs and he has his hands on my waist. I cleared my throat and backed away putting quite some distance between us. "I came here to ask what time my break was. The other two have had theirs and I completely forgot to ask" I reached next to him and grabbed my visor. "Oh uh you can go now. You have an hour." I nodded "Okay, I'm going to the diner across the street...want me to bring you anything?" He let out a small laugh and shook his head "no I'll be okay, thank you for offering" I nodded and backed out. I walked to the front where I saw Lip sitting at a table by the window. I told Alyssia and Jackson I was taking my break and clocked out on the computer. I hung my apron and visor on the coat rack behind the door and walked out to the lobby.

Lip stood up and walked over to me, giving me a side hug, then moved towards the door. "What took so long?" He asked, guiding me through traffic crossing the street. "My boss was talking to me about hours"
Lie.
Why did I lie?
Would he get mad that I was up close and personal with my boss?
We aren't dating so it doesn't matter!
Does it?
Stop it Jessi-

"Jessica?" Lip said grabbing my wrist. I jumped at his touch and nervously laughed "I'm sorry what, what did you say? I zoned out" he narrowed his eyes and opened the diner door, allowing us to both walk in before he closed it. He walked us over to the bar and sat down. A waitress came over and handed us menus from underneath the counter. "What can I get you to drink?" She looked at me. "I'll just have a water, thank you" she looked over at lip and he held up his coffee cup. She looked away disgusted and walked to the back. I opened the menu and began to skim over the lunch specials.
