I was 5am on the 10th of July
Farah woke up to a bomb going off
Shaking the ground underneath her.
It was followed by gunshots
Saying Farah was scared would be an understatement,
She was terrified.
Farah quickly stood up,
Nearly falling.
She decided that she would stay there
Until the fighting subsided.
It only took 3 hours
Farah began to regret even coming to Mosul
The fighting had become worse.
Farah heard shuffling nearby,
She quickly scrambled to her feet
Looking for the closest exit.
There was a window,
The footsteps became louder
Farah had no choice but to jump.
She landed on her shoulder rolling,
Farah could hardly move
Black spots dancing on her vision.
She knew she had to get up
And she did with a lot of difficulty.
She was running
But her shoulder stopped her
She couldn't run anymore.
She had to stop,
Farah chose the wrong time to stop.
It happened to quickly,
A missile was coming towards
The building she was sheltered in.
She had to run,
She only just made it
The building exploded.
Taking her with it,
Farah knew she was defeated.
She couldn't keep her eyes open anymore
She let darkness consume her.
