Chapter 11: Together

The sunlight shone through Caroline's window stirring her awake. She opened her eyes and a smile formed on her eloquent face; she was in the arms of the man she was in love with. After their declarations last night, Stefan stayed the night. It was an unspoken agreement. It only took a look for them to know that that they didn't want to leave each other's side. They hadn't exactly come to a conclusion on what their relationship was but they just laid down on the bed, hugging each other until they fell asleep. The only thing that mattered to them was that they were together now. They felt more content now then they ever had and they were finally each others. No pain, no guilt; it was the definition of perfect.

She was about to close her eyes again until she heard Stefan's phone ring and Stefan woke up abruptly. They let the call go to voicemail and Stefan's first instinct was to process that he was with Caroline, in her room, on her bed with her wrapped in his arms. This beautiful and marvellous women was actually here with him. He smiled at her contently while Caroline smiled back while studying every inch of his face, still shook that there was someone who didn't love her less than she deserved it treat her like she was second choice or because of some superficial reason like her beauty of body but because of who she was. Bright, Optimistic, a neurotic control freak, kind hearted, Caroline Forbes that some may even call insecure. But Stefan loved every part of her and she knew that.

She was so happy at that moment and greeted him with a cheerful "Hi!" and he beamed at her with another "Hi!" Caroline felt shivers run down her spine when she saw the way Stefan was looking at her so in love. Her best friend was in love with her and she loved him back. It sounded stunning but felt beautiful.

"So are we just gonna lay here staring into each other's eyes?" Stefan asked as a joke but if Caroline was being honest, she would want nothing more than that.

"That depends, are we going to be in the category of a clingy couple, a romantic couple, a cool couple or are we even a couple?" Stefan very slightly chuckled and was about to answer until his phone rang again and Caroline shook her head in amusement.

Stefan picked up, "Damon, this better be good." Stefan wasn't exactly happy that Damon had interrupted him yet again.

"Stefan wherever you are, get back to the house now. It's important, and I mean manipulative bitch, important." Damon's voice wasn't full of its usual humour, instead it was serious, to the point.

Stefan picked up on this, "Okay I'll be home soon." He said while sighing, trying to hide the fact that his heart beat had gotten just that tiny bit faster at the mention of her. After all the crap that had gone on with Kai and Klaus, Stefan really couldn't deal with anything to do with Katherine. He wanted to enjoy his new-found relationship with Caroline and no one was making it easy on him.

He briefly told Caroline that they had to get the house and Caroline nodded in understanding.

Stefan and Caroline walked in to the house, arms linked together, smiling but trying to hide the fear of whatever Katherine had to do with any of this. To their surprise, the entire group was present sitting around the fireplace, looking at Stefan and Caroline with suspicious eyes.

Elena seemed to come to a realisation. "Oh my god, something happened with you two, didn't it?" Everyone's eyes grew and Stefan and Caroline just gave each other knowing smiles.

"Guys, we can talk about this later. First we need to get to the point, which is why I called you here." Damon said in all seriousness.

Everyone nodded and Stefan and Caroline took their seats next to each other on the couch.

"Okay now that everyone is listening, the manipulative bitch is back." Everyone eyes grew in curiousness and Stefan felt his heart beat faster once again. Caroline gripped his hand softly and gave him a reassuring smile.
