Chapter 12: Our Stars

The doorbell rang and Elena jumped up from the sofa, still buzzed and laughing at a joke Jeremy cracked. Elena had hardly spent any time with her brother since she got back to Mystic Falls; she was either at work, with Damon or with the group as a whole but never just with him. So now, when she had finally got some time off work, she was going to have a quality sibling's day.

However, she was not expecting the third sibling to be standing at the door. Elena's shocked state at seeing her mirror image in front of her caused Jeremy to walk towards her.

"Elena what's-" But the boy was cut off when he saw his second elder sister smirking right at them.

"Katherine." Elena finally had the words processed. The pot and sudden reunion with her long-lost twin wasn't helping her mental health at this moment in time. Though a part of her was glad that she was sort of stoned because she really couldn't deal with this right now.

"What are you doing here?" Jeremy, who hadn't smoked as much pot as Elena, said rather coldly.

Katherine scoffed, "Well hello to you too my long-lost siblings. I figured that we needed some quality time and of course you would've heard that I'm back, from your boyfriend, Elena. Oh, and isn't it funny that we're attracted to the same set of brothers? Must be in the Gilbert blood. Anyway, lemme just come in. Excuse me." She pushed right past Elena and Jeremy leaving them startled, and jumped onto the sofa.

"Wow nothing's really changed, here has it?" Katherine said looking around. "I'm guessing Aunt Jenna doesn't live here anymore?"

Elena stepped forward. "No, she doesn't and last time I checked neither did you and I want to keep it that way."

Katherine chuckled. "Oh, come on Elena, you can't hate me forever."

"Um, yes, I can. You ran away when I and Jer needed you the most. You didn't contact us, your family, for years but did contact Caroline stirring problems between us. Then, just when I thought I couldn't hate you anymore, I find out that you ruined my boyfriend's brother's life. You've probably done even more terrible things and now you think you have the fucking right to come back here when no, you fucking do not! So yes, I will hate you forever. I will hate you for always being a selfish manipulative bitch." Elena took a deep breath, realising that the pot was wearing off. Tears were threatening to fall out of her caramel shaded eyes as she let the emotions she had been capturing for years, fall out. She only felt comfort when she felt Jeremy's hand on her shoulder.

Katherine's face showed regret and sadness. "I'm sorry." Jeremy rolled his eyes at the thought that she thought a small sorry could make up for all the pain she caused everyone. "I'm sorry for the pain I've caused you all and I know that's not enough." The bitch can read minds, Jeremy thought to himself. Katherine continued, "But it's been years since all that and everything has changed. I've changed. I guess I'm just back to show you that I have." It was hard to tell if she was genuine or not.

"That's utter bullshit. If you had changed you wouldn't have pretended to be Elena that night. Now if you could leave us alone, that'd be great." Jeremy replied.

"Wait a minute Jer." Elena turned towards Katherine. "Okay, fine, show us you've changed." Jeremy was about to interrupt but then remembered the plan they had all come up with yesterday. "But, if you do anything, and I mean anything, to harm anyone of us, I promise you'll pay."

Katherine smiled, "I promise, I won't harm anyone and I'll prove to you that I have changed because Elena, Jer, all I want is your love."

"Great! Now, if you don't mind, you can go back to wherever you're staying." Elena put on her best fake smile.
