Epilogue

NOTE: Hello everyone who still follows this story, I am so so sorry that I have been so inactive. Truth be told, I have realised that I'll never really continue this story. I am disappointed in myself because it's so close to my heart and I know that some of you will be disappointed too but, I feel that I owe you guys one last chapter. This is just going to be a summary of what the plot was supposed to be for the rest of the story as well as the only scene I still have saved. I really hope that this is satisfactory enough!! Stefan and Caroline keep getting interrupted everytime they try to be alone. Either by Katherine or something related to that. When Jo almost suffers from a miscarriage because of a plot Katherine had, Stefan and Caroline suffer a strain on their newfound relationship:

Stefan was furious. Caroline had been meeting up with Katherine even though she knew what a bitch she was. Caroline saw the good in people, he knew that but her? She didn't deserve that. She didn't deserve Caroline. He needed to tell Caroline everything she didn't know. That Katherine had a daughter that was apparently his. All that she had done with the constant reminders of their relationship. The fact that the attack on Jo after she gave birth had to be Katherine. He couldn't understand why Caroline couldn't see it! Anger boiled up as he punched the sofa.

"Hey!" Caroline had entered as she was smiling. She put her bag down as she walked closer to where he was standing near the fireplace. She stopped when she saw that something was wrong.

"Stefan?" He turned to look at her trying not to show his emotions. "Is everything alright?"

Stefan was unsure of whether he was to bring this up now or carry on like it was nothing though he knew Caroline would see straight through him.

"No actually. Everything isn't okay." He sighed and sat down on the chair. Caroline sat down beside him and placed her hand on his. He fought the smile that wanted to form.

"I know Caroline." He finally spoke.

Caroline looked at him confused. "You know what?"

"I know that you are meeting up with Katherine. She told me how kind you've been to her." Stefan slowly removed his hand from their handhold.

Caroline looked down at their hands no longer together, she sighed. "Stefan I was gonna-"

"What Caroline? You were going to tell me about this? That's the thing Caroline, it's not that you didn't tell me that's upset me, it's the fact that you're doing this at all!" Stefan had stood up again.

"Stefan I'm doing it because she's my friend. She was my best friend at some point too!" Caroline stood up as well.

"You're friend, Caroline? She's your friend? After what she's putting us all through?? After everything she has put us through! What she did to Elena and Jeremy, what she did to Damon, what she did to me!! She's bloody trying to come between us but you're blind enough not to see it!" Stefan'a voice rouse.

"Stefan calm down! We're not having our first fight as a couple over this!"

"Yes we are Caroline."

"Fine." Caroline took a step closer to him. "We can fight. But that's isn't gonna change the fact that Katherine might not be as terrible as we think she is!" Stefan scoffed in disbelief. "Look, even if she is, what if keeping her closer is good idea. Maybe I can find out if she really is here to harm us-"

"I can't believe this! Caroline I get that you see the good in people and its one of the many things I admire about you but you have to see for what she is! She has been trying to seduce me in multiple ways! She's the reason that attack happened on Jo!"

"Wait what, no she's not."

"Yes she is."

"Do you have evidence?"

"Caroline, this isn't a court case!"

"Exactly Stefan so stop fighting with me!" They were both shouting so loudly they were glad Damon wasn't home.

"How Caroline? How when you care about her more than us and your friends!"

"Stefan, I am not explaining myself anymore if you are not even gonna listen!"

"Caroline, for god sakes. She's evil! She's the freaking reason we haven't even slept together yet!"

Caroline paused. "Is this what this is about? You're frustrated we haven't had sex yet?"

"No Caroline, we both know that's not what I meant." Stefan's voice quietened as he instantly regretted saying that.

"Then is it because you still have feelings for her? You're scared that if she's around you so much you'll fall for her again?"

Stefan couldn't believe this is what it had come to. His tone softened.

"Caroline, I can't deal with your insecurities right now, especially when you know how I feel about her already."

Caroline scoffed. "This is so pointless Stefan. I love you so much but I can't-"

Stefan cut her off. "Do you though?"

"What?" Caroline looked at him confused.

"Do you actually love me? Because if you did we wouldn't need to fight about everything we just did fight about." He was talking in his normal voice and he knew this was unfair but he couldn't help feeling the way he was right now.

That hit Caroline like a stab. That one hurt the most. What the hell? How dare he. She could feel herself tear up. "I can't do this anymore." Is all she said as she grabbed her bag and sped out of the house, before Stefan could stop her or apologise or do anything he would usually do.

Except Stefan watched her go, he didn't do anything he'd usually do. He stood there blankly staring at the door for what seemed like hours until he picked up the bourbon glass on the table and through it towards the wall.

Everyone in the group tries to persuade Stefan and Caroline to be together again and although they would want nothing more than to be together, they are too hurt to try. Caroline finds out that everything that happened to Hanna and with Klaus was because of Katherine because when she found out about Stefan and Caroline's budding relationship, she did everything she could to stop them even before her entry. Caroline then confronts Katherine leading to a fight in which Katherine wins. Katherine kisses Stefan in front of Caroline earning her a slap and a confrontation and fight between them in which Katherine tries to kill Caroline but Stefan saves her. Ultimately, Katherine is forced to leave the Salvatore Manor and Stefan and Caroline are alone for the first time in weeks. They have a much needed talk and realise that they want nothing more than to stay together because their relationship is so much more meaningful than what Katherine was trying to do. They finally make love. The gang all come up with one last plan and record Katherine's moves on Stefan. It is also revealed that one of them were recording everything she had done since she got back and so she is sentenced to life in prison. The gang celebrate.

Stefan and Caroline live happily in their small happy life together, eventually getting engaged and married as their families and friends watch them develop and grow forever. Stefan opened his law firm and Caroline started her own event planning company and together, they felt they could rule the world. Their world.

The touch of the obsession then never touched them again.
