A/N here's the plot twist you ever knew you needed

Peter's POV

The familiar sound of sirens fills my ears and I jump from the rooftop, following the source of the sound. I swing web by web up in the skyline of Queens.

Rounding a corner, I find a building completely ablaze. My mind rushes to the fire at the Stark facility for a moment, but I collect my thoughts quickly. I jump and land next to a police officer on the ground outside of the building.

"Is there anyone inside?" I ask.

"I don't know, I don't know. Not everyone is accounted for!" She exclaims, trying to flip through a bunch of papers in her hands. A list of names a mile long. There's no way they all got out.

I fling myself up into a third story window and break the glass. I land in the building and am
overwhelmed by the all-too-familiar taste of charcoal and smoke.

"Hello! Can anyone here me?" I yell.

"Help! Help!" A voice rings through the fire. I try to follow the voice and find myself surrounded on all sides my fire.

Kind of ironic, isn't it?

A loud crashing sound emits from above me, and I look up, seeing that the ceiling is collapsing. I'm in over my head here. How am I supposed to save people when I can't even save myself?

I hold my arms over my face, expecting to be crushed under the weight of an entire story. After a few moments, I open my eyes and find that the ceiling is being held in place and a green haze is emitted over it. I follow the source of the haze and find a girl floating outside of the broken window. She's clad in a yellow and orange suit with flames on the arms. A red mask covers her eyes, a perfect match to her crimson hair.

"Woah!" I exclaim.

"Little help?" She asks, trying to hold up the ceiling.

"Right. There's someone over there. Ill grab them, you hold this up as long as you can." I instruct and run off towards the screaming person. I find a child, maybe six or seven, laying on the floor, screaming at the top of his lungs. I pick him up in my arms and run for the window, jumping out and using a web to descend myself to the ground. I give the child to paramedics and immediately turn back to the woman in the sky.

I turn back towards her and find that she has covered the entire building in a green glow. I watch in awe as the roaring flames die out, turning to ash.

Slowly she lowers herself to the ground beside me.

"Holy shit." I exclaim, "that was awesome! Thanks for that....?" I wait for her to give me a name.

"It's A-" she starts, "A-Angel. Call me Angel." She stutters, extending a hand to me to shake. I reach and firmly grip her hand.

"I'm Spider-Man." I chuckle.

"Really? Never would've guessed." She laughs. Without another word, she flies upwards about ten feet in the air. "See you around, Spider-Boy." And with that she flies away.

Ash's POV

The costume isn't exactly what I wanted, but I'll deal with the orange. I hate the colour orange, but who knows. Maybe one day I'll feel differently.

I fly over Manhattan, looking for something to do. I've never done this hero stuff before.

Pretty exhilarating, isn't it?

The sound of sirens catches my attention and I spot a fire in the Queens area. I take a deep breath in and out, then make my way towards the flames.

I land on a nearby rooftop, trying to determine what my game plan should be. I've never put out a fire this big before, I don't know if I'll be much help.

Suddenly a figure swings into view on a web, and I know it's Peter. I should've known he would come. I don't know if I ready for this.

He breaks into a window and heads into the fire. I find myself flying over towards the window he entered, just watching over him. I need to be sure he's okay.

I watch as he turns his head on a swivel, looking for something. I notice the ceiling starting to fall, and I take initiative.

Holding up the ceiling with my new found ability, I protect Pete from the dangerous collapse. He turns towards me, and the two of us are finally face to face after all this time.

"Woah!" He seems startled to see me. Understandable.

"Little help?" I ask, starting to feel the ceiling grow heavier. My arms shake and I focus as much as I can to keep this thing up. I won't let Pete get hurt. Not again.

"Right. There's someone over there. Ill grab them, you hold this up as long as you can." He runs off towards the source of high pitched screaming.

Other than Berlin, I've never seen Peter in action as a hero. I'm both proud of and amazed by his bravery.

He grabs a small child and exits the building, and I let the floor fall. The entire building thankfully remains intact, but the floor/ceiling caves in on the third and fourth level.

I back up and watch the scene before me, and I know that I have to put this fire out. I quickly turn to look at Pete, holding a terrified child, giving him to paramedics. If Pete can be a hero, I can, too.

I turn towards the building and focus everything I have, watching as the entire building covers in my green hue'd energy. Acting as a fire blanket, I smother the flames and leave the building charred and filled with ashes.

My feet touch the ground and I am met by Pete again.

Holy shit." He gasps, "that was awesome! Thanks for that....?" He expects me to give him my name.

"It's A-" I almost say Ash, but realize how consequential that could be. For Pete to see me for the first time in over a month in front of a crowd of people? Who knows what could happen. "A-Angel. Call me Angel." I stutter, and reach out to shake his hand. He firmly shakes.

"I'm Spider-Man." He chuckles.

"Really? Never would've guessed." I tease, and with the last of my energy fly up into the sky. I stop and turn back to look at him, "See you around, Spider-Boy"

I fly off into the sky, leaving Pete with the police and the remnants of another burnt building. To say deja-vù would be an understatement.

Leaving the boy I love, I retreat back to Brooklyn, knowing that I've finally saved someone. I may not have been the one to deliver that boy to safety, but I helped to save his life.

And I feel like quite the hero.
