Just then, I heard vehicles, coming down the road. I grabbed the shotgun off the table I was sitting at and ran out back. It was all woods, so I got down on my stomach and watched in fear of being caught. They were soldiers. Jeeps stopped in front of the house and soldiers got off the sides and out of the seats. They stormed the whole place. "There's no one here! Let's move!"

They piled back into their Jeeps and spead off. I caught a glimpes of an American flag on the back of a soldier's jacket. "No way."

I ran like a bull after a red cloth, leaving my gun and hat, "Wait! I'm here! Come back! No!" They didn't hear. I was enraged.

I went back inside and saw that they left quite a bit of supplies. Food, water, an assault rifle, and loads of ammo. Hell yeah!

Time went by. And hour, actually. I had a watch.

The front door opened and I got into my battle-ready position with the shotgun pointed at the door. It was Henry "No, it's me!" He laughed, "Don't shoot!"

I put the gun down. "Where have you been? And where is everyone else?"

"They're on their way."

"From where?"

"Well, we went up the road a little ways and found an abondoned town. There was fresh food, water jugs, vehicles, and a gun store, we couldn't resist!"

"You just leave me behind? I almost died!" I said this trying to make Henry feel guilty.

"Now, how did that 'almost' happen?" He asked.

"Thats not the point."

"I know you can take care of yourself, James."

"Yeah, but-'"

Henry finished the argument with, "Look, you had a concussion. We'll take you on the next raid, if you're up for it."

Esther charged in with a man, he had been part of the group, "We have to go! Now!" The man yelled quietly.

"Aaron, what's going on?" Henry was tense.

"No time, get in the car!" Aaron urged.

It was just Aaron, Henry, Esther, and me. "Where are the others?" Knowing the answer already.

Aaron gave me the look that showed they were killed. I looked at Esther, she looked toward the floor of the car. We drove off. We came up on a town, but we had to rush through the whole way on the main road because people were being executed left and right. The soldiers that were killing people were sitting in these things. Mechs, small ones, but still mechs. One saw us and started unloading a machine gun on our speeding car. Our back left tire was hit which caused us to run offroad into a steep hill, so like a wall. The car was toast, and the mech was making it's way toward us. I got out of the car and helped Henry and Esther out, but Aaron was stuck by the combination of his seat belt and a branch from a tree through the windshield. When I went to help him, I saw he'd been shot in the right shoulder. He was bleeding a lot, and the soldier in the mech was approaching us fast. I tugged and pulled. I got the seat belt off but the branch was still blocking his way to freedom. The mech, standing right behind the crashed car, pointed a different weapon towards the car. I heard a high pitched sound, like a charging up noise. I had no choice. I ran across the dirt road behind a small shop to Esther and Henry. We heard an explosion. I knew Aaron was gone. Esther covered her face in half fisted hands and cried. Henry took her in his arms trying to comfort her.

Out of all the choas going on, we heard one last scream down the street from a woman. It was inturrupted by a loud gunshot. All was silent. Then I heard the mech that killed Aaron start walking slowly. We ran the opposite way we heard it from. It saw us. And followed. Another one used his walky-talky to ask what this one was up to. He told him. We were surrounded.
