Chapter 14: Escape

"Why do you need the suits?" Skylar asked.

Ben glanced over to where Crystal stood, then back to his wife, "I'll tell you later," he picked up Crystal and placed her over her shoulders, "Hurry, we don't have much time."

Skylar nod to her husband before climbing into the only air vent in the room, and carefully closing it afterwards.

Ben paced around the room, plotting his next move, but then his thoughts were interrupted by Crystal's sweet voice, "King Ben... What's going on?"

Sympathetic of the little girl and the situation she was in, he placed her on the bedside and looked her in the eyes.

"Some very bad people are trying to hurt you," he broke off for a while, "And your father and I are trying to get you to safety."

"Why would people try to hurt me?" She asked.

As Ben was to answer, a loud knock came from the door, causing Ben to sprint to the side with his gun gripped tightly in his hands.

"Who is it?" He asked quietly, trying his best to sound similar to Jordan.

"Why don't you quit the games and open the goddamn door!" Jordan yelled from the other side of the door.

Relieved, Ben opened the door and silently locked it again after Jordan entered the room.

"Now, explain to me, in full detail, what's going on," Jordan said with a stern look on his face.

"I'm your King, when you speak to me, you speak with no attitude," Ben said, carefully looking through the door's peephole.

"I don't give a damn who you are right now! Whatever is going on, my children are caught up in it and I demand to at least know what I've gotten myself into!" Jordan yelled.

Ben swallowed and glanced at the children. Crystal had that curious look on her face, a look that made Ben know he had his work cut out for him, while Vector was still fast asleep, but he seemed as if he could wake at any moment.

He turned his attention back to Jordan and quietly said, "The council wants to get rid of them."

"But why? They're just kids," Jordan replied.

"I know that. I tried to defend them, but no one would listen, because they say having the children on our land will only lead to the Stormborn troops continuously returning until they take hold of them," Ben said, releasing a sigh afterwards.

"Where are the suits?" Jordan asked.

"Skylar's starting them up," Ben replied.

"You sent a woman to charge up the suits!?" Jordan now looked at Ben as if he was losing his mind.

Placing a hand on Jordan's shoulder, Ben walked to his side, "You'd be surprised at what a 'woman' can do."

Killshot smirked as he placed his revolver back in it's pouch, "I guess I'll see you on the battle field then," he said as he casually walked into the darkness, "I'm looking forward to our match. It'll be fun."

Tania gripped tightly on to the bars that separated her from Kai, "Why would you do that?" She asked with a worried look on her face.

"He was going to hurt you. No, he was going to kill you. Why would I allow that?" Kai asked.

"Because you're smarter than that!" She yelled.

Those few words, echoed throughout the room as large amounts of dust filled the air.

Kai took up his blades and began sharpening them against the metal bars, "I don't know who told you I was smart in the first place," he looked up at her with a joyful look on his face, "I'm as dumb as they come."

Tethra cautiously held on to his chains as the Nether King closed the distance between them.

"Come on Tethra.. Don't you miss me?" He asked with his arms extended as if asking for a hug.

"Why would I miss someone like you?" Tethra asked, slowly pulling his chains away from their bearings.

The Nether King's face went blank, "Okay I admit, I haven't been the best father... Or grandfather," he tilted his head towards Silvester, "But I'm willing to make up for it."

He reached his right hand out towards Tethra, "All you have to do is say yes to me for once, and we'll rule that pathetic world together."

"You know, that would've been s great offer," Tethra said, allowing the Nether King to have a sense of relief, "Only if you made that offer nineteen years ago."

Tethra's chains engulfed themselves in flames as he swung them towards the Nether King, who only took hold of the chains, making the flames disappear.

"Have you forgotten who gave you your powers?" The Nether King asked.

"No I haven't," Tethra replied with a smirk planted on his face.

Purple energy blasted against the Nether King's side, making him tumble over in pain, freeing Tethra's chains from his grasp.

"You might have given me my powers, that I admit, but my son has powers of his own," Tethra said as he nod his head towards Silvester.

kylar fiddled with the remote as she pointed it towards Ben's mobile suit, continuously tripping over equipment laid out in the way, "Damn it!" She yelled as she lost sight of the remote for it fell from her grasp.

While she searched for the remote on the floor, the door burst open. Startled, Skylar decided to stay still on the floor, hiding behind all the equipment.

"Anyone in here? Asked a Vechan guard that entered the room.

A man walked into the room afterwards, smacking the guard in the head, "Of course there's no one here. If there was we'd see," he said as he caressed his black hair and placed a cigar back in his mouth.

He walked into the room and slightly sniffed the air, allowing a slight smirk to appear on his face but only for a split second.

"Destroy the suits, make it quick," he said as he walked out of the room.

The guard aimed his pistol at the one of the two suits that happened to be Ben's.

A blue light outlined the pistol as it charged up for he put just enough effort in his fingers to go into 'First Shift', a mode that charges up the blast of the gun, the mode that rarely anyone had enough patience for.

Once the blast was charged enough, he pressed down harder to go into 'Second Shift,' the mode that released the blast.

The charged blast darted across the room but it blew up before it arrived at it's target.

Confused, the guard scanned the room, but then gulped once he realized the reason it dispersed.

Skylar was in her light blue mobile suit, and the gun on her right hand emitted smoke, due to the powerful shot that was released.
