"A thoughtform? Like one of those Buddist things. A Tulpa? Where people believe in a certain thing and it would exist due to the fact that many people believe in it? You mean that kind of thought form right?" asked Xiang. Fox's ears twitched and said "Well...you're close, yes it is a creation of someone thought, but this kind of thoughtform is created by fear. Remember the term "ain't nothin' tah fear but fear itself?" Yeh, on Burgeon Isle, magic runs through everyone, vivid nightmares, or night terrors can sometimes come true, I've seen this happen before, it's before I joined Alvanda, and boy that messed up me kithood."
"So you're suggesting someone in here is having a nightmare? Who?" I asked. Fox probably can sense thes kind of things, he spends enough time with that witch, I think he can. Fox's whiskers twitched and he said "Well, it's definately not the guards, low magic potential, you know what I'm, sayin? Can't be your father, nor your mom, nyet. How about your sisters? Eh?"
My sisters? It's definitely not Lucy, neither would it be Katherine. Sisters...sisters...don't tell me. Fox tilted his head and said "I think we can fix this, it's not gonna be easy though. Know anyone with high affinity for magic around here? I mean, it's not like we can just barge into your younger sister's dreams and break the nightmare. Though I wihs we could, I mean, we can't let this thing continue to manifest, it's like a bug, a disease, you never let fear manifest, never let it take hold of ye, If it does, yous might as well be dead. The Spirit of Fear can't control a nightmare that has grown too strong, in the end its always the common folk like us that deals with these kinds of things. The Spirits can't give us what we want, we do it, that's why they've made us."
"You know a bunch of Spirits, you can at least ask them to help us," I suggested. It's true, Fox has huge connections with a lot of 'people'. He evens know some lesser Spirits, and some big ones. like Death and Love. Fox shook his head, "Nyet, Death is busy all the time, Edamus is preparin' somethin' big, probably something for me, I don't know what it is, but I know it's not good, I'm pretty sure he's trying to hook me and Jenny up again through his son, but that's not the point. Point is, yes, I can get help, but don't expect miracles. Foxes not make miracles."
He breathed in, his chest rose and closed his eyes. Out of nowhere a voice said "Aye lad, I hear ye, what do ye wont?"
"Why do I hear a Scottsman?" asked Xiang as he looked around. "Oi! I'm doun 'ere, kiddo," said the voice. I looked down, and saw what looked like a short, blonde bearded man wearing pale gold clothes. Fox opened his eyes slowly, "Gents, meet the Spirit of Light, Faustes."
"He lookes like a dwarf," said Xiang. Faustes looked at him and exclaimed, "Not just any ol' dwarf, I be tae one that lights up ye hous, tae one that makes sure yah have can see in tae day, aft'r all tae sun gives warmth, bot I'm tae one that gives the light. Remeber that." I breathed a sigh of relief, at least its not sunlight. The dwarf turned to Fox, "Nou, wot's tae problem eh? Kinda strange with ye callin' meh tae a vampire's hous."
"Nightmare problem, thoughtform, I called everyone I knew, glad you can pick it up," said Fox. Faustes nodded and stroked his blonde beard, "That would explain why I'm 'ere."
Xiang floated close to me and asked "Why is he a dwarf?" I whispered back at him "Prefered form, makes him look friendly." Xiang didn't say anything else and nodded, the guy knows when to stop asking questions. I like that. Fox turned to me and gave me a funny look, "You gonna meow now?"
"Wait wha-" I started, but was cut off with that weird semi cat face grin he put on when he suceeds in weirding people out. He used his front left paw and tapped his head with it, "I dunno. Guess I'm bored."
His tail twitched and turned the Spirit of Light, "You know, I really didn't expect you to be here, I kinda expected a deus ex machina, but life ain't easy is it?"
"Dous eux mehkinah? Wha do ye think I am? Lark 'imself? No no no, I'll do tae best I can, but I dinnae know anythin' about these thoughtferms or noightmares, I figure yeh have tae do it yerself," said Faustes. Oh great, expect Fox to bring in someone that can't provide help at all. He's better at being a rug than doing this, that or licking things, probably something that belongs to a certain Wolf Folk. Yeah, pretty sure that's what he does best, being usually under the counter and all.
Anyways, Faustes caught a whiff of my distaint, he's a god, he can do that, suprise, suprise. He folded his arms, turned his attention to me and said "At least he tries tae help, now quit whinin' I hate a woman that whines."
"So what do we do? Brage into Samantha's room, and do what? Have Lucy perform magic while we fend off shadows?" asked Lawrence. Lucy shook her head, "That would be nice, however, I don't know the required spell that can be safe enough to be used on someone as young as Samantha. I can try, but I would probably fry her brains. We need to find someone who can do the spell."
"Sabrina? I'm pretty sure she can do it, I mean her being the best witch in school and all," I suggested. Lucy shook her head, "Sabrina is specialized in the arcane school, teleportation, summoning of etheral tigers, magic shields. All defensive arcane spells, a gold bubble covering Samantha's head won't fight nightmares," said Lucy. Damn, well, that was killed fast. Fox's ears twitched, "I think I know someone who can. Anyone seen your older sister? Katherine?"
"Katherine? Why her?" asked Lucy. I was skeptical too, Kat knows magic? Just how many vamps in this house know magic? Fox tilted his head and raised his brow like it was a rheotrical question, "You didn't know?"
"Know about what?" I asked. "I'm pretty sure I already know about her using magic when you told me she could." Fox shook his head and said "It's not about her using or not using magic. I never said that she knows magic. What I meant was she's a vamp, and...well...Vamps can enchant their voice to charm people into thinking something else. Assuming the vamp has the ability to use that skill in the first place."
"Why can't we do that?" I asked, almost immediaetly after he finished. The tone sounded angry, and a bit...jealous? Yeah, jealous, if Kat can do it why can I? Fox shrugged and said "Dominant and recessive genes, I guess? That or your eldest is in her middle ages. I'm not sure, but I know that we need her help"
"Hold it!" exclaimed Xiang. "What are you trying to imply? That we just get Kat to talk the nightmares away?" Fox gave him a grin, "What do you think?" Xiang's flames turned black, "That plan is insane, it's never going to work!"
"I tink tae fox has a point." said Faustes. "I can open a gateway tae the wee bairn's mind, I might get in tae trouble fer that, with me meddlin' with the Realm 'o Dreams, but lives are at stake 'ere. Not tae mention, yer father governs this baw bag of a country. I'm serious when I said it looks like a baw bag. Look at tae map 'o tae place!"
The god went a little bit off topic, but I understood what he said, execpt the baw bag part. Spirits are not meant to get into each other's realm of influence, it's not illegal, but it's frowned upon. It's like the invasion of personal space that everyone dislikes, and Light and Dreams are very seperate things, I doubt the Spirit of Dreams would appreciate the 'visit'. I turned to Lucy and asked "So...where is our sister?"
